Ive owned and loved this boat for about 4 years, Its been hard finding info on it and at the international boat show in Baltimore, MD a donzi salesman told me to hang on to this boat, as its rare and will become very valuable soon. Id just like to hear some input from other donzi owners. MY father has been a boater and a fan of donzi all his life, though this is the first in the family. Thanks for your help

My '67 16' Ski Sporter, Hull # 16-420, is in the Boat Registry here:

Do you know your hull #? Is it all original? I will be anxious to see pictures...

YellowDonzi,
welcome I also have a 67 donzi Hull 410 "WE" ( as in Cliff and Chris and Scott) found the numbers up by the bow eye.
Tony's boat and mine have some similarities, post pics, ask questions, :)

its been all rainy in MD....im takin her out to wax and get her ready for the season. Its a volvo 8 cyl. I think the original was a 289 ford? Anyways the throttle assembly, at least i think thats what its called, broke on me, im having a machinest redo it hopefully in stainless steel tomorrow. The only pictures i have right now are of the broken part. Haha ill get the rest of the boat on here tomorro, as well as its numbers and such. Im glad i found this group and i look forward to chatting and learning from you all. By the way, i live in Annapolis MD. :boat: :boat: :boat:

Your shift assembly looks to be original, except for the chrome knob. E-mail Scott Pearson and see if he has any replica's left over, they were hand-made walnut with correct insignea on top...VERY sweet items.

I believe it is a Morse shifter.

I think it is a morse shifter put in that recessed housing,
might it be possible to get a "new" shifter and re-use the housing??? just a thought
I think my boat had one of those type shifters, then someone machined a SS plate to cover the hole and mounted a new shifter on the plate

Finally a good day. Ive started de-oxidizing and waxingher, these pics are before i started though. Right now im waiting for the shade to creep up so i can do the rest of the boat. She's still about a week from being ready and by no means feeling her prettiest. Im thinking about leaving her in the water for a weekend at a time this summer, but my automatic bilge pump switch isnt working, is it hard to change? Anyways ill post some pictures when shes all waxed and put together. My biggest hold up is the throttle assembly, im waiting for it to be finished at the machine shop.

I think it's a great looking 16!! I love the color...

What color is the stripe? I sometimes wonder about the color settings on my notebook, but I can't tell....

It looks a lot like the 40th Anniversary 22...

Looks nice, you seem to be on the right track.
The stripe looks brown to me, is the interior brown also?
I've heard of one other like this, it was probably not a common color combination.
Have you found a hull number yet?
What outdrive does it have?

Have you tried E-mailing Morse? I would they have been extremely good with old parts. I would include your photo, you may just get lucky.

you are correct, the interior is brown, as well as the stripe. As for the part, it should be done tomorrow or tuesday, i had one made from a machinest. Its a volvo outdrive and i havent checked the hull number yet, where is it located?

Look for the hull number on the underside of the deck, fore of the dash. Sometimes on a foil tag behind the back seat, I believe. Also on the back side of the dash, but mine was obscured by instrument cutouts.

I would be interested to know if the deck is cored or just glass and pvc tubes also check for the hull number up by the backing plate for the bow eye

The switch is very easy to replace, IF you can get to it. I have not worked on a 16', but the 18" was under the engine, and not fun ..... but getting to it was the hard part. Make sure to use heat shrink, good connectors, and test before you install. I am fairly close to you, any help I can offer, is extended

Arnold? Thats my home town! Severn and Magothy. Just go to a boats store - any boat store. Float switches are readily available. Just tie off the connectors above the bilge so they won't be in water. Its just a switch, just like a light swtich. Its only opening and closing the hot lead to the pump in series.
