Unfortunately, my baby is wrapped up quite awhile away otherwise I would go and measure myself. Currently, it has the stock Merc metal flame arrestor and long, black plastic cover on it. I want to install some type of K&N on it this year. It is a stock 350, 2BBL with a Captain's Call. What is the absolute largest cleaner/arrestor I can wedge under that hatch?

you can fit a 10 inch K&N 2.5 inches tall under the hatch i believe but don't HOLD me to the height... Maybe mr Verd could measure since he owns it now... this is what i ran on my 350 in the 16 when it was a 4V and a performer intake.. your intake is a bit lower and the air horn on the 2V carb is smaller so the base will have to be for that size.

Your right Jamie, that's the set up I have.

when a friend of mine was measuring for hood clearence on one of his hot rod cars, He put columns of modeling clay on top of the existing aircleaner and closed the hood. What ever height the clay mushed down to is the clearence you have.

problem with the clay thing is the fact that the motor angles downward and puts the flame retarder on that angle too... the 2V manifold is not inclined like car manifolds are... so the larger diameter you go.. the closer she gets to the hatch...

I have a 10 x 2.5 in mine and there is room for more maybe another inch. if you do get tey have different bases that may elevate the height somewhat.

Hey guys...

I was looking out on the K&N website trying to find a new flame arrestor for the 16'. However, all I see are 9 and 14 inch diameters.

Are the ones you are using really 9 inch or are you using air filters instead of flame arrestors?

Thanks.

Sam, you've got a 16 Classic 350 2BBL?

If so, can you provide a K&N part number. It is confusing on www.knfilters.com

just to let you know, i bought a little taller element for my arrestor, a 3.5 inch . it wont fit.damn the luck! i think you can get these at jegs or summit on line . the 2.5 x 9 is part number 59-3264 . just to clarify , the other element was 10 inches in diameter and the black seal was kinda adding height. I am sure you could fit a 9x3 under there .summit seems to offer more arrestors. go to there web site and do a search for flame arrestors and they list all the sizes. pay attention to the overall height. a 14 wont fit as you need clearance for the shift linkage.hope this helps.

Just a bit on summit and jegs... IF you go to the manufacturers website and get the P/N and then go to jegs or summit and use the supplier prefix then a - then the P/N you will most likely find it.. even if it is NOT listed when you seach the catalog... beats me why... but 99% of the time they'll have the part... it just won't be listed...
