Ran the 1986,18' for the first time since the stringer and transom replacemet. The boat ran excelent, but the tach would only registers 3200rpm. Any thing to look for? Or should I send it in and have it re-calibrated? Where should I send it? Thanks in advance.

My VDO Tack was reading low on my 18, so I barrowed a Shop Tack and checked it against that. My VDO was reading 400 rpm under. There is a calabration screw on the back of the unit, but you need something accurate to check it against. You can send it back to VDO, but it might be cheeper to buy a new head. Also check the connections on the motor, check the ground.

I have a similar VDO gauge, the speedometer has a cracked lens. Can replacements be purchased for these gauges or am I out of luck?

Jerry also try www.egauges.com, key in VDO gauges repair into yahoo and take your pick. I still think it might be cheaper to buy a new head. Check out the sites though.

Just purchased a VDO speedometer for a 96 22' Classic from egauges.com(1-800-303-6211) Paul Kollek was very helpful and shipped the same day I ordered. My 96 gauge stuck on 25mph and thats just not cool. :cool!:
