72' Donzi Oh My!!!!!

Just need some information as to the history of these 65' to 80' sportfisherman battle ships. Are they still in production ? Whats the connection to Donzi Marine as we know it today ? From Yachtworld.Com several are advertized between 65' and 80' years 90 to ? and the name Roscioli is used. Whats the skinny on these Donzi's ? Thanks .

Slick - Yes these are DONZI's and they are still made. However, in abour 1988 the large sport-boat group was sold off to an independent comany. That comany retained the rights to the name and logo. I think the break is at 45ft. Below is the American Marine Holdings owned Donzis and above is the other company.

We saw a 65ft and 80ft at the Miami boat show this year. SUPER nice boat rivals any other made. Hatteras, Bertram...none were better, and priced VERY competetively.

here is a thread from a couple of weeks ago with some pics and tech info on the 65'. 65 donzi (http://www.donzi.net/forums/showthread.php?t=34068&highlight=roscioli) Roscioli is doing a fantastic job building the big donzis- first rate from stem to stern. I beleive the first 4 or 5 were built in sarasota prior to the OMC days. The rest were built in Roscioli's yard in Ft. Lauderdale and there has never been less than a year waiting list to get one of these- generally longer.

Hey Fish boy, left the area today, We have a horse race here Saturday but, its Fleet Week in Lauderdale and I counted six Navy Ships and an Aircraft Carrier in Port Everglades today, way cool. :smile: :biggrin.: getting a bit crowded and they closed the Port for a long while getting these ships docked. The first story is wild, and the second one is crazier, after surviving a hurricane, and not wanting the crew to risk their lives trying to make port, the owner smashes the sea strainers, sends it to the bottom, and climbs back onto the freighter that came to their rescue......

Budmann and I spent a few hours with Bob Roscioli, the builder of the BIG Donzi's on Tuesday. Man, does he have some cool stuff going on down there. In addition to the 80' Donzi, he has a 58' express cruiser that you really have to see in person to appreicate. The detail in the wood work is awazing.

I would have posted some pics, but some @*$&# employee of the hotel we were staying in decided she liked my digital camera and stole it. #@(&@($#!!!!! :mad:

Anyway, pity party over. There are some really cool things happening with the big donzi's, glad he is keeping the quality of the donzi name at the highest level.
