gas filter change on 1972 16' classic

can anyone tell me an easy way of changing a gas filter on a 16 classic, It's located near the bottom of the boat at the back of the motor in a very difficult location. I can see it but very difficult to get a tool around it.

What does it look like? Is it a tin canister style or a brass looking unit. Either way it sounds like it would be a good idea to move it for ease of maintinance and also personaly I like to mount them high then there is no chance of much fuel dumong in the bilge if the anti syphon valve is bad or none is in the system.
