How do I determine the setting for the rev limiter on my 415 HP, 502 Mag Mpi? It runs up to ~ 5000 RPMs with both the 25 P Mirage Plus and the 25 P Turbo 1. I can't tell if I'm propped perfectly, or running up against the rev limiter.

The rev limiter is set at 5050.

I would be interested in hearing more on how your Turbo1 compares to the Mirage Plus. What diameter is the Turbo1?

Phil, I *think* it's set at 5050.

I think 5050 too.
IF you hit the limiter, you WILL know it. It feels like the ignition is being turned off/on/off/on real fast.

Does anyone know if rev limiters have become more engine friendly? Over the years I have heard form quite a few guys saying they don't like them because they cut the ignition letting raw fuel wash the cylinder walls.

RedDog,
The Turbo is 14 1/4" in diameter. As I mentioned in another post, I don't know how speed compared, but the handling seemed a bit more secure and there seemed to be less bow lift. I've only got about an hour seat time on it and in calm waters. I'll be running it more at Mt. Dora in a week or so, and I won't forget the GPS this time. I'm taking the Mirage Plus along too and plan on doing some back to back testing.

BillR,
I sure didn't notice the ignition cycling on/off like that. I guess both props are perfect, rpm wise, for my set-up.

My book says 5250.
I banged mine allot with a 24 Bravo I, with the 26P I spin right at 5000.
