A big storm blew thru Charlotte on Sunday night with 70 mph gusts. Took half the roof off my boathouse, racked the structure about 20 deg. from vertical, and tore about half the flotation out partially sinking the boathouse. All with my 18 hanging from the cable hoist. Power goes out...so no way to get the boat down. Panic time!! Got a generator to lower the boat, but it is now hanging over the interior walkway instead of the water. Get friends and come-a-longs to jack the structure vertical enough to get the boat over the water. A lot of groning and creaking..just waiting for a collapse and a smashed boat!
The good news...
Got the boat out without a scratch and now waiting for the insurance adjuster. The boat house was getting pretty old and near needing replacement anyway. Time to build a new stationary type...no more floaters! :bonk:
