I'm ordering an OMC thermostat housing and related parts for my 302. They want $60 for the hose that connects the housing to the water pump! (About a 14" distance...)

Is there an alternative, or should I suck it up and pay?

You can use good name brands automtive flex host it will last quite a while. What goes bad after awhile is the reinforcing wire starts rust when it does change it. about a 1/4 of the price!

I had my local auto parts dealer let me behind the counter to look at their plethora of hoses, I found what I needed...

If you want hose sticker shock, price out a new CG approved gas line...14 bucks a foot.. eek!

If you have a goodyear rubber place near you, take it there and show it to them. They have damn near everything. They are also a great source for brass fittings.
