I received a phone message yesterday while boating with many donzi friends in Tampa Bay. The message was from June Westerman, the wife of Don Westerman. I called her back today and she told me that Don passed away at the age of 83 from emphysema.
For those of you who don't recognize the name, Don designed boats for nearly every major boat manufacturer during the 70's through the early 90's (Chris craft, welcraft, tiarra...etc, very long list). He also is responsible for all of the donzi designs during the mid to late 80's.
He was a brilliant naval architect, a man of his word, and and a truly good person who will be missed immeasurably.
