The missus and I may be getting a new boat soon, (not selling the Donzi though!).

It's a Superboat 30Y2K. What a deal, 496Mag/Bravo, 70mph on labbed prop for $49800! Very basic boat, SB's old F1 raceboat layup, very light, no cabin interior. I've been talking to John Coen for several weeks now, and can't find a reason NOT to buy one...

This is news outta the blue, or have I just been my typical self and completely clueless of my surroundings.

So, Donzi stays....is Vicotry gone?

Oh wait, I get it....Your daddy is ramping up the 31' Viper rebuild, and you can't let him out do you.

Nope, Victory stays too! We had to be the first of our bunch to outrun your clip-ons! He he!!

We've been looking at Superboat for a while, and it's hard to beat for the price.

RT on the baord had one for quite awhile, not sure of size but fairly big. He loved it, I have looked them over they look to be put together well. It real nice looks like its doing 80 sitting on the trailer.

Thanks Phil! The lines remind me of an old Cig. I'm thinking of going with the black hullsides, with a red bootstripe. Hmmmm, wonder what that's going to remind ya of???

I really like the lines and color combo of that boat. The silver boot stripe accents the rail lines well... I'd like to see a transom shot and cockpit pic.

Really great looking boat.Too bad the F-16 partial canopies option are sooo expensive.I love them with the black colors also.Maybe someday Donzi will build a similiar ride.

Very Nice Jim.
And as they say, Bigger is Better.
I must say though, that is a cheap price, after a 496HO, there is not much left for material and labor.
Have you been in one? She is very pretty, sleek look....
Have fun and keep us posted.

I'm not getting the HO. $3900 for 50 HP is a bit much I think.

I've been in a 24. Amazing ride, excellent quality.

How big is that one on the trailer? 30'?

He's getting 70.5mph gps on a labbed prop. Must be the 7' beam and light weight. That's incredible for 375hp...

We boat in Clear Lake, in Galveston Bay. It's just south of Houston.

Jim, Do not get less then a 496H/O in that boat, two of my freinds own them and one races one. Its a light set up, She is a drivers boat Fast Eddie owns one with a 500 hp runs 77mph the 496H/O runs 70mph the 496/385 runs mid 60s. John Cohen builds a good cheap boat. The hull was a copy of the Magnum hull narrow beam good running and handles rough water well. But when you go to sell the boat No one is going to want the smaller 496, you can't even supercharge that motor. The 3900 is worth the price especilly with the lighter exhaust steel pistons and higher torque. She chines a little after 65mph but thats what is so fun about that boat. You can get that boat in a sit down or bolster seat set up. If you can get the optional racing cowling that gos over the back and front the trhottles are in the center with an adapter so if you want to remove them you can.
Good Luck on your purchace nice boat! :umbrella:

From what I have heard from Merc and read, the main difference between the two engines is the cam and ECU. The latest data I saw was they are cast inners not forged.
MSRP about $5200 difference, most dealers will go about $3000.

There are HOURS of reading online on these motors, the Merc site and factory is the best info, toll free call.
Where is our motor expert BIG GRIZ? He will surely shed some light.
Best of Luck Jim, I wish we were buying/ordering a new boat, what a great feeling! :)

Thanks guys!!

According to the Merc rep at the show, Mercruiser stopped using the forged components in the HO in 2003. Like Bryan said, the diff is in the cam and ecu. I can do a cam and ecu for a LOT less than $3900!!

Thats a great looking boat Jim. I have always liked the Superboat's. I had no idea you could get a 30Y2k for around $50,000. Can't wait to see it on the water and a ride of course. :smash:
