Guys running engine driven pumps may want to consider never changing an impeller again. Centrifugal pumps are a very viable alternative, I worked on quite a few commercial fishing boats over the years. I have been researching one of my favorites the Oberdorfer all bronze pump. They take less HP to drive, need seal and bearing packs at about 300-500 hours depending on crap getting past strainer. They can be driven at lower shaft speeds and still deliver more water than a flexible impeller pump with like I said less HP especially at high RPM. A fair bit of reading below, on the pump recoed by their tech for my SB. I did not ask if it would also do BB, but looking at the flow rate it should. A caveat they need strainers and must be mounted below water line may require a low transom pickup, they do not self prime. Most of our drives are probably set deep enough, I will find that out with the BH.
