Would you guys reccomend financing it? I have about 3500$ right now, the boat isnt that much more than that (1500 more), Dont want to have low credit or bad credit, this could build it up for me (I would think). Down payment then finance? Just finance w/ no down payment? Pay in $?

Tommy, first, what is it?, how much is it?, and how much more do you need? Don't be in such a hurry to get "good" credit as you will probably owe for sooo many things in the next 4 years that it will come naturally :D

1979 Donzi X18. Holman Moody and that is all the info I have.

Here is how I convince mom and dad. Friend is selling a 1988 Corvette (It is black, I would never buy a black Vette first, my first will be red) he is at 4k, and I am the first person it has been offered to. I have a bad habit of just um... Showing up at the house with a new vehicle (Did that with my ranger, 325is, and my 4 runner) This time I will be nice enough to give them the option. I am buying one or the other. Either a Vette (Tickets, insurance, death) or a Donzi. The speed boat looks a lot more appetizing. :D

Moneywise- Boat is 5k. Ranger I was offered 3k for. Have about another 1k in money I can get from bank or easily. That is 4k. Would anyone reccomend financing the boat, not because I am short a few dollars, but to build credit?

VERY COOL TOMMY!!!. I am happy for you and I hope it works out. You have shown some effort towards this end and that is what is important to me. No freebees in this world. In order for this to "wash" , with me, on the board, (and I speak for myself here only) is your folks had better be cool with what we are offering you. When you polute their basement with a boat it has to be OK with yer folks as far as I am concerned.

If that is the case, then you got my hun$... :D

You can always buy a Vette later. How many X's do you think you will run across in this price range??

I dont plan on buying a vette now, especially not a black one. Mom and dad dont know that yet. I will say either or. They pick.

Tommy, if it's the boat I'm thinking of... (Harbormaster & I were talking to the owner of an X-18 Sunday night... coincidence?), it's in my neighborhood. If there's anything I can do, please let me know. I have some detail pics of this boat, too.

Think CUDA has a good point! You can allways get a Vette later on.

Congrats Tommy! I think its great to see someone so persistent get what he wants. I love the X-18's and didn't even know what they were till I found this site. I'm sure Mom & Dad know how long you have wanted a Donzi and will hopefully go along with you. If there is anything you need or help I can give you feel free to e-mail me. And Quick, post a picture for us - that **** eating grin is a real phenomena! I finally had my first one at the Hometown Rally last year, and then, of course got towed the last 300 feet into the Hyatt!

Tommy you have a couple of weeks to get this together or someone else gets the boat. They have already sent money to put down if you do not go through with it.

The X-18 will appreciate in value while a Vette of that year will just decline in value....and just get you in trouble.

Boy, get the Donzi
