Yesterday, a friend of mine dissapeared while boating in Tampabay. Details are still a little scetchy, but what is known is that his 36' Spectre flipped, and he is still missing. Fortunately, the two female passengers that were with him were rescued by another boat.

I know we are always looking for more speed, and we all think we can drive our boats well, but I hope this makes someone think a little bit about safety, safety equipment, and the unpredictability of the water- even for experienced boaters.

It was two 36 Spectres running together when one hit a wake and became airborne. Reports say it flipped multiple times, ejecting all three people. They were running about 100 at the time of the crash. Nobody in either boats was wearing PFD's.

A very sad story indeed.
