I have heard about this story for over a year but never realized how much of an impact our Lamphere Schools, Page Middle School students made until our last board meeting. They have changed Florida law! For those of you that live in Florida have probably heard about this but many of you probably have not. This is a very heart warming story about a group of immigrant students from our school district trying to help an ex-Marine / New York firefighter right to fly the United States flag.

It is amazing that these kids made and sent over 100 US flags each and every single day to Jeb Bush and others, for over a year, for this cause. Then they made an awesom quilt that now is hanging in the Florida state capitol.

Please take a moment to read this article, its to bad but several others articles that were written about this cause are not on the web any more. The letters we have received from Jeb Bush the Governor of Florida, Jonnie Byrd the Speaker of the House, A. P. Anderson Major ARV Acorn Five and George Andres the ex-Marine are quite heart wrenching!

Thanks for posting Brad. It is a shame that more people are not as pro-active and patriotic as the children in your story. I think we could all learn a lesson from this.
