There was a topic like this on another message board last year and I thought it was interesting...

How long do you spend Commuting to and from Work/School on a Daily Basis, and how do you do it (Car, Train, Bus, etc?).

I live exactly 16 miles from where I work in Downtown Seattle. My commute by car is approximately 45 minutes in the AM and 1 hour in the PM. Taking the Bus adds approximately 15 minutes on each end.

What's it like for the rest of you?

75 miles each way... 20 miles of smooth flowing 2 lane and 55 of I-94... 1 hour 10 minutes or so each way... but my living expenses are cheap, the lake and the donzi are 40 yards away and things are nice and peaceful this way... and i'll do dang near anything to avoid apartments wink

yeah i may be nuts but this job isn't permenant, that's a fact...

I may work 4 mile or 400 miles from my house. Last week, I was in Jacksonville; 240 miles from my house (Tampa Bay area). The farthest we ever worked is Brunswick Ga. I spend so much time working in the Orlando area, I have thought about moving to Daytona. I couldn't live in Orlando because of the traffic and no open sea! frown

My company offices recently moved increasing my commute by 50%. Now I have to drive 6 miles to work instead of 4. Oh well, I got it rough. What used to take 10-15min now takes 15-20mins. What to do...

Chris

That you sleep at your desk disappoints many of us very much...

We were under the impression that you had no need for sleep at all :D

To school, on the bus it takes 20 min, not even 5 miles away. On the way home, takes 25 minutes, in a car it takes less than 5. Longest part is in the parking lot getting out of school.

That picture is awful! Yuck! :(

My drive is about 15 minutes to and from work. It would probably be a little shorter if traffic in the area wasn't so heavy. Even with such a short commute, I'm still always 5 minutes late.

I live about 65 miles from work, and it takes me about 2 hours (maybe a touch more) door to door to get there. I drive 2 minutes to the train station in Bradley Beach NJ, and take the train into NYC. A bit of a pain in the ass, but I only work 4 days a week, so I always get a 3 day weekend. Granted, it's a long commute, but I get to live right on the ocean, which I love. Especially after seeing some of the apartments my co-workers live in in Queens, Brooklyn, Staten Island, etc....
Every day, the train passes a Ferrari dealership, and the lot behind the place has some cool junked cars. Among them is a yellow 18' Donzi. I've called the place and spoken to the owner, who doesn't know what the heck to do with the boat, but is convinced he can get $45,000 for it. Yep, he took it in trade, and apparently got beat reeeeeeeel bad.......I'll keep calling until he realizes what it's really worth wink

15 minutes. It is amazing how little time it takes to go from heaven to hell, and then back again after work.

Here in Orlando the traffic is BAD. My shop is 15 miles from home or 28 miles by the expressway. The time is the same, around 30-35 minutes. Except Friday nights, then all bets are off. If I take the 417 [expressway] the tolls are $1.75 each way. Worth the money when you don't feel like traffic and have "E-PASS".

My offices are both 5 steps and 40 minutes away. For the bills, I work for Nationwide Insurance downtown Columbus, OH. About 20 minutes each way by car, but to save the wear and tear on my tow vechicle, I ride the bus which adds another 15 to 20 minutes to the trip, but a lot of time to catch up on the Hot Boat subscription.

For extra dollars and a backup plan to the main job, I do website update and developement from the desk at home. The Midwest Donzi Club is organized and researched from here also, but the best job and most profilling job in my life is my family which brings more enjoyment then any amount of money could ever offer!

I ride my Trek (altered mountain bicycle) to work. It takes me about forty minutes of dodging cars, trucks, lights, pedestrians, curbs, pot holes, construction crap... It's all uphill to work (I live on my boat), but an easy fast ride home.

I live and work in Manhattan. I walk to and from work everyday, rain or shine, sleet or snow. I live in the upper 70's and work in midtown. Takes 25 minutes each way. Very convenient. However, every summer weekend when we want to go the beach, I must leave at 9:30 am from the city on Saturday or Sunday morning in order not to endure bad traffic. I have to leave the beach for the city by 3:30pm for the same reason. Now that I am looking for a Donzi, which will be docked at my parents house on Long Island, I will have to deal with the same schedule during the summer. Hmmm, if I could only afford my apartment in the city, a house on the water in Long Island and a Donzi, well that would be nice wouldn't it.
