The road to 2 National Championships in a row as begun. Ohio State 1-0-0 Nothing like watching the Best Damn Band In The Land perform 4 Script Ohios with the allumni band members.

Miami has a big game with Florida next week and of Course, Ohio State's final game of the season will be at Michigan in AnnArbor this year. Oaklahoma, Georga, Florida, Florida St. and USC all looked good this weekend. There is nothing like college football. No premadonas, sometimes no names on the back of the uniform. It's all about the name on the front of the uniform.

Miami/Florida. Best game I've seen in years, Scott. Berlin.........looked like Joe Montana last night. I'll bet his phone is ringing off the hook this morning with inquiries (NFL style).

So, can't ZOOK figure out who his starting quaterback is? What's up with that?

That game was unreal! Wouldn't surprise me to see Miami move to #2 and OH State drop to #3. I figured Florida was going to win hands down so I was switching over to the NASCAR race. Next thing I know it's 33 - 32. Had me on the edge of my seat. Great game :D

Didn't get see much of the Florida / Miami game, because I was watch OU / Alabama. But the last quarter was something else. The match up is something you think of being played in a bowl game. Reminds me of that great game in 1971 between Neb & OU. (Oh my gosh, has it been 32 years eek! )

The SC game was rough for me, as Coach Holtz is one of my personal Gods. I wanted to win, but not by quite so much. (This is female football logic, don't try to follow it.)

UGA status, 3-0; my emotional status, pensive, much bated breath, very furrowed brow. Expect true Toona happiness to begin on December 6th.

If they end up going to the National Championship, they can all point to that fourth down catch by Winslow to save the season. He is a man! Did you see him embarass that linebacker when he bowled him over? WOW!

Now I just hope my Gators don't get beetch slapped by Miss this weekend. :rolleyes:

What a great game last night although pulling for West Virginia, I was again on the edge of the couch! That game looked a lot like the Fiesta Bowl and the Buckeyes. Winslow and his 4th and 13 catch was NFL material. The Bucks can send a big Thank-you card to USC for losing a game last week. However, I don't think they'll get the opportunity to do the same to Miami or Oklahoma.

The Buckeyes are on a bye week so we stay 5-0 for now.

5-0-0 and still ranked No. #1, tough game ahead this week with Texas. The Oklahoma vs. Texas game is the one we look to all year. Once again it's going to be played in a neutral site in Dallas (I never understood if you are playing Texas on Texas soil, how that is neutral.) This is allways a game that records and ratings have no bearing, just who wants it the most.

This was sent to me by a Philly friend... I started to change it to the Tennessee Vols, but felt in a kind and generous mood. Let's hope I'm still in that mood on the 12th.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This was released due to the lack of play on Monday Night against Tampa Bay.
2003 Revised Philadelphia Eagles SCHEDULE
September
14................Northeast High School
21................Cub Scout Troop #101
28................Philadelphia Blind Academy
October
5.................Spanish American War Vets
12................Crippled Children's Home
19................The State Mental Hospital
26................Girl Scout Troop # 353
November
2..................Philadelphia Venereal Disease Clinic
9..................Greater Philadelphia Boys Choir
16.................Korean Amputees SPECIAL MONDAY NIGHT GAME
December
8.........Philadelphia Gay Boys Club
** RULE CHANGES FROM LAST YEAR **
1 - When playing polio patients, the Eagles must not disconnect knee braces.
2 - When playing the Blind Academy, the Eagles must not hide the football under their jerseys.
3 - A touchdown (this is when the ball is carried over the goal line for all you Eagle's fans that have never seen this) is still worth 6 points.
4 -The Eagles will be allowed 20 men on the field at all times.
5 - The Eagles will be allowed to substitute with band members at anytime.
6 - The Eagles will be awarded 10 timeouts as opposed to 3 for the opposing team.
7 - The Eagles will be awarded a first down with each gain of three yards or more, instead of the usual ten yards.
** NAME CHANGE **
The Philadelphia Eagles will be changed to the "Philadelphia Tampons" as they are only good for one period and have no second string.
** COACHING CHANGES **
Monica Lewinsky will be named head coach. She will no doubt blow a few, but she certainly won't choke on the big ones!!!
Chris Rix is a total idiot! Even if he learns that you have to play ball a little differently in the rain, he's still an idiot - especially on the field. He probabaly really does need that handicap parking tag. . . make that a mentally handicap parking tag. Rix has once again proven that he is not a thinking OB and he will never follow in the footsteps of P.T. Willis, Charlie Ward, or Chirs Winke, and I will go on to predict that he will never go to the NFL. Study hard dude! Delivering pizza's is a tough way to earn a living.
On a different note, the Gators got some redemption today beating #6 LSU pretty soundly. At least now I might not have to hide when Toona's Dawgs meet the Gators. I still say Zook is an idiot. Gators looked much better today by throwing downfield, why they didn't do that last week against the worst pass defense in the SEC is beyond me. I still say he is out at the end of the year, no way those Bull Gators are going to stand for that.
I guess I'm going to have to start asking for something a little more valuable for my birthday than a Tennessee defeat... Clausen had two arms this year and they were both left feet. As we know from our resident Donzi 10aSeaNs and this article (http://www.ajc.com/uga/content/sports/uga/1003/12scene.html), the Vol Navy was ever gracious and hospitable... funny how boaters are a classier lot, no matter how deep their rivalry...
But the world's largest cocktail party still sends shivers up my Dawg loving spine. What Freudian slip does Florida shag into our playbook every year? I'm hoping they used it all up on LSU; and I'm thinking that I have more respect for Zook than our resident Gatorcuda!
Well, the longest win streak in college football came to an end yesterday and with it any chance of the Ohio State Buckeyes repeating as National Champions. With games against Iowa, Michigan State and Michigan still in the schedule, it may not be the last loss for the Bucks this year.
I agree. Bob Stoops looks and acts like a football coach. Watch Zook on the sidelines during a game. He looks lost and clueless. I sure hope for Zook's sake that he is good at selling insurance. Somebody put Zook up for sale on ebay last week. :)
Spurrier lost 12 games during his entire career in Gainsville, and Bobby Bowden took care of a good many of those. On the other hand, in the short time that Zook has been in Gainsville, he has already lost 8 games. Sure that was great win for the Gators last Saturday, and they needed it, (I usually never pull for the the Gators), but my guess is that UF is already looking for a replacment for Zook. On a side note, as much as I couldn't stand him, I really do miss Steve Spurrier - especially when he would get all upset and throw his visor on the ground! Man, that was fun! wink
Shark, you must be talking about that other Oklahoma team (O-State). Did both Def.'s take the week off, (1300+ yards). Very exciting watch Tech come from way back. However my Sooners game was not near exciting, Their QB didn't rip us up this year, last year it was way to close. Ohio State moves to 7-1. They finally found a way to score some points or they finally played a team that would allow them to score. With the loss of VT to West Virginia, we'll probably move up in the standings from #6, but our toughest games of the Big 10 schedule are yet to be played. The Big 10 Championship may come down once again to one of the countries biggest rivalries. U of M & OSU at the final game of the season up in Michigan.
Well, well, well. Virginia Tech proves what Ohio State proved last year. Miami is beatable! :) Question is, where's the respect for the defending National Champions? Ohio State should be #2 at 8-1. Strength of schedule should put the Bucks over all the other 8-1 teams. The next 3 games on our schedule are against some of the strongest teams in the whole country! Everyone is handing Oklahoma the National Championship much like everyone gave it to Miami last year. Buckeye fans just think Oklahoma needs a team on the other side of the line with some game. Now, you might argue that Ohio State doesn't win impressively.
Whaaaaaat happened??? Sheeeet! Thoses Hokies are gooood! Well, at least you guys managed to keep from being shut out by scoring in the forth quarter.
But I was only half right - the Hokies won't be in the Sugar Bowl, but neither will the Canes. :D Look on the bright side though, if the Canes play well here-on-out, they may still get a chance to play in one of the BCS bowls.
The question now is, who will get the opportunity to have their butts kicked by Oklahoma in the Sugar Bowl. I don't think the FSU will slide into the number two position (BCS)even though we shut out the Irish in South Bend yesterday in big way.
My only dissapointment yesterday was seeing Georgia loose to Florida, and yes, as much as I hate to admit it, the Gators are starting to come back. FSU will have a tough game against Zook and Company in the Swamp.
Boldt, as much as I am a Florida State fan, I know that Okalahoma is in a league by themselves. Everyone else is just jockying around for the right to have their butts kicked by them in the Sugar Bowl. Right now it looks like USC or maybe, just maybe, Florida State; but at this point, one more loss by any of the number two through number five BCS ranked teams and that team will drop like a rock. I am surprised that Miami didn't drop furthur after that humiliating whipping they sustained by Virginia Tech. At this point the AP rankings (http://www.sportsnetwork.com/default.asp?c=sportsnetwork&page=cfoot/misc/ap-poll.htm) don't matter much anymore which is good for both Miami and Ohio State.
Darrell - OU just keeps pounding them down every week. 77 to nothin. eek! ouch! You all still have TCU to play right? They are still the only other undefeated team I believe with a win today. Should be an interesting game.
Tim - Congrats to Tennessee. :D
Scott - I won't say anything. We've all been there at some point in time following our favorite teams. :(
Are any of you interested in doing another Bowl Game Pick-um this year? Not sure what I have around the house to offer as prizes, but I think most are always interested in a money prize. Let me know if your interested and I'll look for a game to set-up for us or create our own. Last year's had a little different approach with more points being awarded as the games got closer to the National Championship game. Forrest, we aren't done with this thread this year yet. There is still the matter of UF v FSU to be settled.
MP, I hope you didn't replace that Tiawanese shower rod with a good old USA model. I hope Forrest has the breakaway model too. :o
Anybody know the line on the Oklahoma/Baylor game this weekend? :o :o :D
Let's see Texas A&M beat Baylor 72-10 and Oklahoma beat A&M 77-0. I know I wouldn't want to come up with a no.
Yep, that was my point. :) I didn't think there would even be a line posted for it, but believe it or not, there is! The number is 52. The only way that Baylor can beat the spread is because Stoops is taking some heat from the East Coast press about running it up, which in my opinion he didn't do. How can they accuse him of running it up when he pulled the starting quarterback after the first half, and didn't score on A&M in the fourth quarter. He could have easily run up a C note on them. A&M is lucky it wasn't his mentor, Spurrier, instead of Stoops. Steve didn't have much compuntion about throwing long in the fourth quarter with a forty point lead. :)
And what was that crap with the A&M defenders celebrating a tackle when they are 77 points down???? :confused: :rolleyes:
By the way Darrel, GIVE US BACK OUR COACH! :D
Should have jumped in this thread a while back but been too busy enjoying the season. Oklahoma is the best team, but I think the most underrated team in America is my beloved Rebels!!! Can't wait to stomp some Bayou Bengal tail in two weeks. And this guy should win the Heisman, but I am obviously a little biased wink http://www.donzi.net/photos/manning.jpg
Cuda you can't have him back, Man you guys already got the ocean on three sides and year round boating weather. :cool: Stoops has made it a lot easier to get by till boating season.
Darrell
PS - Did Mr. Lupica even see the game, :mad: we only let our back-up QB throw 3 pass plays, and that was to get him a little practice, (You know White can have a season ending ingury). And as far as the running game, our no#1 back was out and the #2 & #3, were the only backs that knew the plays, and we didn't even score in 4th quarter.
You don't hear Texas A&M gripping, they hung 72 on Baylor this year. eek! I didn't like seeing OU take a knee, I thought that was worse than scoring a TD. frown
Cuda
11-13-2003, 05:21 PM
If A&M thought that scoring 77 was humiliating, what would they have thought if OU came out at the second half and immediately started taking a knee.
Darrell, I'll trade you the Atlantic Ocean for Stoops. I don't use it anyway. :)
MP may have a proble with that trade for two reasons! wink
Well, another edge of the seat game this week. Ohio State wins with the defense in another over-time game. 10 - 1 Next week is the end of the regular season for us and its a big game to say the least. Big 10 Championship and possibly a chance to defend the National Championship all riding on 1 game up North in the Big House at Michigan University. Go Bucks! Beat Michigan!
Okay, the Gators are now officially on my hit list... first they spanked my Dawgs, then they crunched my Cocks... and the worst is that I have to cheer for the Vols in order to win the SEC East.
I'm thinking global warming must have something to do with this.
Yes Tuna, times are strange. I'm having to cheer for the Gators and now for KY since my cheering for Alburn didn't help knock the Bulldogs off. Actually the Vol's best shot at a BCS Bowl is to miss out on a trip to the SEC Championship game and the resultant spanking LSU is going to give the East representative.
Ole Miss, We Buckeye fans are pulling for you to win over LSU :D First Michigan though for us. Got to be one of the best rivaries in the whole country. Almost always comes down to this game every year. When Ohio State wins, wouldn't you believe the BCS would have to let the defending champs play Oaklahoma?
Reddog, they are good, no doubt. But they are beatable. We will see on Saturday. If we lose, they still must beat Arkansas or we still win the West
Darrell, I was listening to a sports radio station today, and they were interviewing Kirk Herbstreit. They asked if he thought Stoops was interested in the NFL, he said he didn't think so, but wouldn't be suprised to see him back in Gaineville at some point. :) :D :cool:
I'am glad I didn't read your post about Stoops going to Florida yesterday, that would have put a damper on what was a great birthday. eek! I think however we are going to lose several members of his staff to other schools.
I am going to Lubbock and witness a new single season passing record by the Texas Tech QB, unless we can hold him to less than 83 yards (even I don't think we can do that). Should be fun game to watch, and long as we win.
Well, today was the end of the regular season for the 2002 National Champions. It ended with a loss to the University of Michigan today. 35 - 28 Ohio State ends with a 10 - 2 record for the year. While we lost, I think it was one of the best OSU vs UM games in a number of years. Michigan had a balanced attack and played like a team who should represent the Big 10 as Champions.
Buckeye fans were again on the edge of their seats, but not until after half time when the Bucks came back from a half time score of 21 - 7 to get as close as 28 to 21. The defense intercepted a Navarre pass and it looked like we were on our way to another tie. Three plays and out and thus the end of the game for the Bucks with the momentum again shifting to Michigan.
Tonight, over 20,000 will await the team's arrival back in Columbus to cheer and congradulate them on a wonderful season. BTW, a NCAA all time record for attendance at a game was set today on the 100th meeting between these 2 teams. They don't call it the "Big House" for nothing! Now, Buckeye fans get to sit back and wait to find out where to buy plane tickets to. We have one last wish for our seniors. To send them off with a win in their last bowl game with the team.
Just got back from the sandblaster they call Jones-SBC Stadium, eek! 40mph winds with blowing sand. Still it was a lot of fun, :D about 10,000 Sooner fans made the trip. Sorry Bolts we won't have a chance to hook-up with Ohio State this year.
Going to go up and play K-State in Kansas for the Big 12 title, We are undefeated and K-State has two conferance losses, yet we could still the be runner-up? :rolleyes: I guess the championship game is good way for the Big-12 to make some extra cash.
Can't wait to see how the Southeast plays out, LSU, Georgia, Florida? Should be fun to watch. :)
Just back in from Oxford after watching one of the best games I have ever been to. Ole Miss came up short but was a great game. Now of those Razorbacks can somehow beat LSU on Friday we may still get to Atlanta. LSU's defense is incredible!!!!
(Is it just me and my notsorepairedafterall computer, or is the Board acting strangely? Strange physically, strange. But can the Internet be physical? Ah, never mind...)
Okay, now the toe tapping and knuckle biting begins... surely we have won the Eastern SEC Championship... but the BCS is a strange arbiter. Great congratulations and deepest appreciation today to FSU and the Vols... what strange bedfellows I found myself waking up with...
Here's an idea... have #2 & #3 in the BCS play in the Sugar Bowl... have Oklahoma wait and play the winner of the Super Bowl... now that would be good football!
Toona, why are you complaning? For the first time in a while you guys are in the top five and you know why . . .
http://www.onlineathens.com/images/020401/cartoonLR.jpg
That's right! You guys got Bobby Bowden's right hand man of 15 years, Mark Richt from FSU, and that's why the dawgs are doing so well. Richt is a true football guru and may very well take Georgia to a championship game in the near future. Also, at the same time, Bobby lost 13 year FSU veteran and now legionary assistant coach Chuck Amato to take over the head coaching position at North Carolina State University. Two years ago NC State was nothing when it came to football - now look at them! In a few years, they too may be going to a championship game.
Fact: FSU has ranked in the top four of the final Associated Press poll each of the past eight years. No doubt that Mark Richt and Chuck Amato had much to do with that.
The deal on the Florida / Florida State game last week was that Florda played well as expected, but Florida State played better.! :cool:
The only folks who must feel worse than me today would be from Oklahoma.
Bummer. We looked awful. LSU deserved the win and certainly a shot at the National Championship.
I'm taking small comfort in the thought that we had next year's season this year. Hopefully, in '04 we'll be healthier and have matured, cause this basket weaving gig isn't cutting the mustard.
Forrest, Bowden is amazing. Coaching, at its finest, isn't about winning a game... it's about creating winners. Bowden is simply the best.
What a game last night! I actually was pulling for OU so that things would be simple for the BCS computers. Amazing how much this game reminded us of the Natl. Champ game last year. No one gave Kanas State even an inkling of a chance to win the game much like Ohio State was thought to have no chance against #1 Miami last year.
It's college football and one thing I've learned, any given team can win on any given Saturday. Especially when we get down to the championship and bowl games.
Good luck to everyones team in the post season! Looks like Ohio State may get to play Miami again? Waiting on ESPN at 6pm est. :D
