New Donzi 38ZR F2 Boat Comes in Second
at APBA Race in St. Cloud, Florida.

Sarasota, FL 4/02 — Donzi Marine introduced the 38ZR Competition Series during the Miami International Boat Show this past February. Snap-On Tools was the first to snap-up the F2 edition of this new offshore racer and proudly bannered their corporate moniker across the hull. Billed as an “out-of-the-box” race boat that would blow the competition out-of-the-water, all that was left to do was wait for the race.

Their chance came this past Saturday April 6th, 2002 when the APBA circuit made its way to St. Cloud, Florida. Over 8 boats competing in the F2 factory class navigated their way through the marked course on Lake St. Cloud.

Driver Wilma Ross and throttleman Brian Ross, assisted by Donzi race engineers Doug Valentine and Dave Pick, averaged between 85 - 91 mph for 9 laps of a seven-mile course to take second place in the F2 division.

The all new 38ZR is built to the design parameters established by SBI and the American Power Boat Association (APBA) and is sanctioned under that organization's Factory 2 racing class.

“Aside from the superb driving and handling skills of the team, the technology of this new boat and the engineering of its design proved to be the critical components in placing second,” notes Brian Ross. “As we get more acclimated to this new vessel, I have no doubt that we’ll be taking first place in the future.”

Steve Simon, Vice President of Sales and Director of High Performance at Donzi says, “This was a great race for us to test the limits of our boat. It’s obvious to us that this boats’ potential is limitless.”
