Wish I had heard about the Mt. Dora event sooner - I would have loved to attend. For any of you not familiar with the area there is a really unique restaurant just north of Lake Wales named Chalet Suzzane. The food is out of this world but unfortunately so are the prices. I had a rich friend that took me there for lunch one time. Would you believe $100.00 - apiece!

Preston,
Sorry you missed the event. We had a really great time. Lots of pictures of persons and boats caught in somewhat "compromising" positions will soon be posted here. This particular event is held each year in conjunction with the Mt. Dora Wooden Boat festival. If you love boats, THIS is the one and only place to be in Florida on this weekend. Next year will probably be approximately the same weekend on the calendar. Pencil it in. And prepare for a fun boating experience.

Forrest we missed all you guys. Thanks to
Scott and Heidi for all their efforts. Mark and Nancy for their contributions. That was Kathy and
my wife in the entertainment Donzi. My son even got to pilot the HP500 before I was able to get
a ride. Some more pic's

Jack,
looks like a good time, the first video was sweet of ted, but the other two didn't work for me? Ted, I'm sorry about the bad directions, I wish you could have made it to the party.

Clayman,
Your Luau on Saturday night was totally awesome!!!! Thanks for having us over to your plantation. Folks will talk for years about BOTH of your garages. I , for one, will remember dancing with the hula girls! Hope you and Jen (and Jake) can be at the next event.

By the way,
One of the coolest of the wooden boats was a Chris Craft mid-engine, split cockpit, about a 1950 vintage...in the engine compartment was a shiny new Mercruiser SCORPION!!! eek! eek! eek! engine!
I hope SOMEBODY got a shot of THAT to post.

Matt, That's the Dora Canal. It's about a mile long and connects Lake Dora to Lake Eustis. Those are two of the lakes in the Harris chain. You're right about the tropical wildness; typically exotic Florida boating. The stumps are generally Cypress knees, root extensions that grow away from the main trunk and up.
