Scott,

I have restored and own an original 1966 27' Magnum Donzi for the last 15 years. It is time for someone else to enjoy it. This was once a Don Aronow personal race boat. Refer to page 67 of the book "Don Aronow The King of Thunderboat Row" by Michael Aronow. If you know anyone interested in the boat, please contact me at 301-261-4933, 410-798-1409 or my cell # 410-320-5720. I would appreciate if you could pass the word for me.

Thank You,
James Parkin

Satan's Chariot AGAIN? Owen, just buy the cursed boat and fill up all that Donzi storage space you've created!

Satan's Chariot? I saw that boat about 17 years ago at a marina in Maryland. It was in pretty sad shape at the time, needing some work. It was for sale but my Dad was more interested in the 27' Magnum Maltese that was for sale. He didn't buy either boat but I never did forget Satan's Chariot.
Have the other three Magnum - Donzi's been located and does anyone have photos / history of these very rare boats?

I saw one of Aronow's "Banana" boats at the '96 Antique Raceboat Regatta in Clayton, NY. It had a NY registration and was named "The Other Woman". It had the same #16 as the one in the book, with the funny looking 6, and had the Magnum-Donzi logo near the transom. It had a square black tunneau cover about mid deck so if it was the same boat, it's been modified since the time when Don raced it. It also had some low cable type grab rails added to the deck.

I sent pics to the harbor master of one of the banana boats a friend of mine owned. Came real close to purchasing it. Had a single BBC built and a destroyed sea power drive. Still have pics of it but not on computer any more. Always woundered what happened to the boat. Still wish I had purchased it. If I Didnt have so many projects going at the time I would have. Ya think the 1983 33' Apache Sport built for Wille Diaz I ended up with will get me over it? If the Harbor master has lost the pics when I have a chance I will resend them.

Turbo,

-----Was the boat red?If so thats the boat I went to look at in 1997 or so.It was stored up somewhere south of Frankenmuth.I think it was a friend of the owners house, but the owner lived down somewhere around Detroit. At the time it looked like too much work,so I passed.Another mistake!!!!!!!
-----The kid who ended up with the boat is the guy Owen is referring to as having planter material........Bill S......ol red!

Sounds like the same one. Thats a pitty I had hoped it was running by now. The boat appeared to be solid just needed a lot of finish work. The cabin and bottom needed the most.

There was a fully restored one that I spotted here in Holland, MI a few times last year. It has been updated nicely with what sounded like a very hot BBC and most likely was blown as a scoop had been added to the deck. I hope it's back this summer, I'll snap some pics if it is.
