Has anyone ever heard of an AERO boat. I found one sitting in a group of boats for sale today. I called the seller and he said it is an AERO, its a copy of a 24 foot magnum. It's hull looks like he's right. It's got a fresh 502 with dart heads and roller rockers. The out drive is what the seller called a Stern Power by Dana. I never heard of either AERO boats or Stern Power. It's got through hulls, new interior, new cover. It's even got a small cutty cabin. I'll get some pictures in a few days. Anyone have any knowledge of this type of boat? Any information would be helpfull.

I have looked at them as well. They are very close to 24 Excalibur too.

-------Another Excalibur pop. There are several up around here. Also the 27 Aeros. They are a pop of the Magnum 27 or 28.Theres one near here for sale with twin drives with speedmaster lowers like you describe.I dont know how it is powered. They do look speedy, but at the very least they look hard to find parts for.Aero at least picked good hulls to copycat!........Bill S

Bill,
Is the boat for sale by you light blue?
I saw one on M29? the other day. it was kinda weathered, and had what looked like twin Sternpower outdrives.

I have never been able to find any written info on Aero Marine Offshore.....anybody have any?

I tried to find some information searching the web without much luck. I found an AERO-TEK company but they only made boats from 1988 to 1993 and the smallest was 28". The boat I found was parked at 16 mile & Jefferson in Harrison Twp. right by the entrance to Metropolitan Beach Park. It is a single engine with an all white hull. I'm going to try to get some pictures tonight and I'll post them here. Does anyone know how to crop them down so as to fit on a page without having to use scrolling to see everything. I'm using an Olympus digital camera.

A buddy of mine has he 24. It was early out with the fuel injection. Nice ride. The company is closed and someone once posted that they are a cat company now. Maybe Obsession or another??

hr,

You need to use a photo application like PhotoShop, Paint shop Pro, etc. Resize the pics to 640 x 480 and then save the resized image. Use the new, resized image when posting.

I took some pictures tonight of this AERO boat. The guy in the pictures was fitting a cockpit cover to it. He said the boat was owned by his neighbor. Does anyone know anything about these boats? The engine is a 502 big block chevy, thats not a problem. I'm more concerned about the outdrive. Is it realiable, can you get parts for it, etc. Any help is appreciated.

------Yup! Baby blue,Mike.Boats name was Qahotic or something close to that.Looking at this shorter versions drive, the drives on the bigger one are Sternpowers without the nameplates.Dont know anything about them, but there certainly are a bunch of em around here.Thers another 27 Aero on 32 mile road just as you hit the outskirts of Richmond.South side of the road.I stopped to talk to the owner a couple of years ago and he said he had a nasty big-block,and sternpower drive in it,and had blue-printed the hull.Had the feeling(even though he claimed the opposite)that he would never get around to putting the boat in the water again.Seemed to just like the look of it sitting in his driveway!
-------Pictures of this shorter version are kind of neat. Its a good looking boat.Make sure you look at the stringers and bulkheads closely as low volume boats like this frequently use poor quality wood...........Bill S

I have looked at them too. They were built from Magnum molds. There is a 24 or 25 sitting behind a house near me. I stoped once to ask about it and was basicly told it wasnt for sale and nothing was known about it. The other I looked at was near me owned by a guy that owned a trans repair shop. A 27 footer he bought it new gave me the above info. It had the Stern Drive unit. They are a good drive whats left of the company moved to Washington or Oregon. Check out the stringers on the Areo closely the starbord side around the engine they had problems in that area many have ben repaired

Thanks for all the comments guys. I've given it alot of thought and came to the conclusion that I want a DONZI and nothing else will do. I've wanted one since I was 16 years old so its time to do something about it. I'm going down to Tennessee next week to see Reddog's 18". It appears to be a really sound boat. I'll let you all know what shakes out.

HR,
I hope the 18 works out for you. It really looks nice, and I have heard all about it on the board.
I sure loved (miss) my 18.
I have been looking at a 24' Aero to pass the time. I like the idea of the small cuddy. I am looking at a 24'-Red hull with BBC/Bravo combo. The price is right so far....we will see what happens.

If you want to email me with the specs/price on that white one that you passed on feel free.

Aero marine became Predator marine corp in 1988 company folded in 1991 for tax avasion the molds where purchased in a IRS auction by a guy named Mark Gilbert from southern California, Molds never left Michigan, They sat in a warehouse for 7 years when I purchased them 5 years ago! Tooling includes 24'vee hull,27'vee hull&deck,32' vee hull,10'cat,32'Cat, At this time we only build the 32' cat which has been retooled and it is going to be retooled agian thi winter, We also build a 17' cat that we designed, tooled, and built in house in the past year! Currently it runs 91.6 on the GPS. We also do complete restorations on any Hi-performance hull. :D wink

Vicious 1, Thanks for taking the time for the history lesson. Information can be lost with time. Good luck with your endeavor and welcome to the regestry. The 27' vee sounds interesting.

Later,
Mark

We do have plans on retooling the 27' in the near future! We have not decided if we are going to raise the freeboards for stand up bolster's or put in high back racing buckets?
