Was there ever a Don Aronow owned company that was going to make Ski boats other than Donzi? The boat, (I was told) was called Seabird (sp?)

Suposedly, 17 boats were made for promotion.....hmmmmmmm

There was a SeaBird boat company, but to my knowledge Don Aronow had nothing to do with it, I know they were producing 24' Cuddy Cabin fishboats in the mid 70's but thats all I am aware of.

That Seabird (nice sportfish boats, BTW), made Blackfin copies for several years. From 24 to 30 feet, very heavy deep V inboards. The Seabird 30 is an exact replica of a Blackfin 29. I've looked at a couple. Great ride, but THIRSTY!

Useless Trivia: the Blackfin 24 mold came from Cary, it's supposedly the old Formula 233 mold stretched a little.

I am going to meet with the owner of the Cig (this is the boat I am asking about here). From what I can gather the boat was part of a small start-up company of Don's (the Owner says he got it straight from Don).

....I will know more soon

That scoop in the second photo reminds me of a sutphen.

The raised area leading forward to the scoop, the bottom of the hull squared off and the curves of the sides along with rear raised surface for the outdrive all remind me of Sutphen . . though I never saw an IO Sutphen this size.

Is the deck like a trampoline? Sutphens had soft decks, never seen a soft deck Cig.

I remember the Seabird brand from back in the mid-60's in Miami. They were nice boats, several models in 23' or 24' range. Of interest, they eventually built, as I recall, a 19' needlenose performance hull called the Scorpion. Anyone remember these??

It does look to be about 19', and it definetly is a needlenose.

Hate to tell ya, but I think someone put Cigarette decals on a 19 SeaBird hull. That hull design, Poodle would know, came in a 19 open and 19 fwd control. Rode like crap, real wet ride.

That is what I have been saying all along: The Owner told me that he spoke with Don, and Don said that he was going to make ski-boats and the Seabird was his startup company that he sold. The boat was brought up to Michigan by the designer after the company folded or was sold. The boat is titled as a Cig.

Mike

anybody have any pics of a 19 Seabird?
