Well the missile is undergoing a one week "restoration" ! eek! :D

Right after school ended I went like gangbusters:

Transom reinforced
Refurbished (used lightly) interior
New Carpet
New teak insets a
New wood dash
New Teleflex steering
Gaffrig Speedo
Still working on the tach

Forthcoming:
New fuel tank from Geoo
New running lights
All new wiring
New bilge pumps ( wow this catamaran thing is different)

Still in the wings:
New outboard. The hunt continues and a trip to Chicago may be in order next week. Anyone want to go for a ride? eek!
Paint looks horrible but it will have to do for now.

Note the "knees" under the transom. I added those to help stiffen the transom. You can't see the two additional knees outboard.

I buffed the paint up a little. Still has a fair amount of dings and nicks but it at least shines a little.

Chris,
The boat looks great. I had one for several years, the ride is something else!! The transition from just being 'planed off' to air entrapment is a rush. You're gonna love it. :D

The motor trek was a failure :(

So the question now is...

Missile to Florida w/o motor and deal with it there?

Or just say screw it and come boatles...

Chris

Why must I want an inline???

Chris

Bring it on! I would love to get back into a Missile, the ride in a tunnel is just cool. I'll make a couple of calls (long shots) for an inline.
You all set for accomodations?

Boat looks great! That used interior looks to be in pretty good shape too. Take the boat with you to FL, if you find something while you're down there, you'll be kicking yourself for not having the boat. Have you checked the classifieds at www.screamandfly.com (http://www.screamandfly.com) ? Scream and Fly link (http://forums.screamandfly.com/modules.php?s=&name=Classifieds&s=&menu=15) Doesn't look like much there now. Maybe throw up a post that you need a motor, and see if anyone responds. Good luck.

Hey Chris,
The boat looks fantastic- as all boats in your personal navy do.

Just a thought on the motor: I do not know much about this motor, but I think it will be coming out soon (if not already). I saw a pic on anoter site and saved it because I thought it was really cool. It is a NEW Mrec 200, but is built with a retro look. Not sure is it is what ou are looking for, but would look really nice on the back of the missle and probably not have too many maintenance headaches (and have a warranty).

There are also a lot of guys on S&F that have old racing motors and might be some help in finding what you are looking for.

Anyway, I am glad the missle found a home that will bring it back to its original splendor.

One more thing... make sure you get a lot of seat time driving the boat before you really "fly "her. Tunnels, especially the true tunnels like the missle, are a different beast. I almost lost my dad and I almost killed my brother and I in tunnel boats. I love them, but you really need to know the boat WELL before you push her. Don't want to be a nag, just want to give my $.02.

Fish

PS- here is a pic of my dad.. the same year he was Nat'l champion and set a world record, showing off the bottom of his tunnel. He was OK on this flip.

Me and my next door neighbor (Ted and Kirk Swing) when we were kids had one and flipped it over backwards one day outside Pelican Harbor... I think it had a 125 or a 140 then... his friend, Craig Tokarsky, got crazy and put twins on another one, and stood it straight up in the air, then over backwards, in front of the Marine Stadium grandstands soon after that.

Not all bad news on tunnels chris... they are a ton of fun. Here is a clip from last weekend. A friend of mine, Parker Rabe (some of you may know him as the son of Randy Rabe of Rabco Boats) flys a tunnel better than any non-professional I have ever seen. I saw him do a "wheelie" at 85mph with both hands over his head and a bottle of mad dog in one if them. Incidentally, the bow was muh higher than in the video.

He has a ton of hours behind the wheel of tunnels and can safely push them farther than anyone I have ever seen.

I think Craig's boat was all white, I know Teddy Swings single boat was.... that looks like John Reed or Mark Hauptner in the red hull or Paul Wells (who started Action) or one of the crazy Lindheimer's stunts... Craig blew his over between the pits and the grandstands on the front straight, cause I swam out from the beach, and held him up from drowning until the safety boat got him. He fixed it, put stacks on it, then blew it over again, ripped the stacks right off the powerhead...
