Hi guys!
This is an odd question as we talk about powerboats... but: My friend just purchased a Riva 38 Bravo 1985 with twin Cummins VT-555-M V8 diesels. On the second trip we broke a couple of valvesprings :(. Now we are loking for new ones. Here in Sweden were we live this is hard to find parts, and they´re expensive too.
Do any of you have any idee were in the States to ask/look for these ? In Sweden the approx. price is $38*64 pc...

L,

CPL 5050

both your engines were built on Dec 8-9, 1980

320hp @ 3000 rpm full load
270hp @ 2800 rpm cruising

fuel pump code # CR-10
injector # 3277763
valve spring # 163037, less than $10 each US$

currently 33 springs available, statewide Fla, balance at factory in Indiana. 13% additional surcharge on special order status for balance of 64 needed pieces. I would NOT recommend aftermarket springs for this specific engine group.

It is VERY rare to break a spring on a triple nickle variety, UNLESS the engine was dormant for quite awhile, and the springs that broke were PROBABLY the valves that were suspended in that timeframe... nonetheless, VERY rare occurence.

Note the date of the engine(s) build, is 5 years prior to hull build.

As its a Swedish boat its laid up during winter. This particular engines has been submarined, springs have been stained with rust. Friends mec. thougt they should bee ok, but that proved to be wrong.... I got an offer from KMP, is they not to recomend buying from ?

Any kind of visible corrosion is no bueno for valve springs, or any spring for that matter...

I don't recognize the KMP name, who is that?
