I am looking at a 1990 24ft Black Widow from a dealer for 17k. It appears to be in great shape. Rebuilt last year. What do you think?

A few dollars spent using a good marine surveyor and getting oil samples on drive and engine should give you a fair amount of secutiy. Ask a few people for the name of a surveyor, a good ones name will come up often. The oil sampling is a no brainer, try for atleast an hours worth of run time the more the better. Do the samples a soon as you are done running while the oil is good and stirred up.

Is the boat a big block King Cobra / OMC package? The OMC drives were ok with small blocks but the torque of a big block was a little too much for the drive especially if you catch some air and fly the boat. Try and find out why everything had to be rebuilt. Was it just normal wear and tear or was there a component failure that made the rebuilds necessary.
