Looking for a Chevy high-rise cast iron dual-plane intake manifold to fit my 1986 350. The Chevy part # is 14096011. This was used on some production Mercruisers and Volvo high performance engines. Anybody got one or know where to look?

Thanks,

Murph

I have a "used 3 months" aluminum Edelbrock Torker intake for small Chevy. (I ran fresh water cooling, so this thing's lioke new)

Murph,
Did you ever get a hold of anything?
Teh other day, I was at my local rip-you-off joint and saw a high rise with a Carter. Looked awesome, I don't know how much they want for it, but I was considering it for my self. And you may not be able to use it since it is off a late model Merc. I think the cutoff date is '86? Do you have the new type motor or the old style?
This would fit my new 5.7L, but not my '86.
AND, it is really high. Not usre how much higher than stock, but when I saw it, my immediate reaction was whether it would fit under my hatch.

Thanks Gene,

I'm still looking. The engine I want to put it on is an 86 with the angled bolt holes. As you said, the 87 and up won't fit it. Sounds like a nice piece though.

I deal with a machinist that illongates those 4 angled bolt holes all the time to make them fit. He said he never had a problem it looks like thats what i am doing because of new cylinder heads

Hmmmm...
Very interesting. How much does he charge? Not that I'm going to be sending anything to LI to get modified you understand, I just want to get a ballpark figure on it. The parts thing is getting nutty when you start mixing new and old stuff. Chevy is becoming like Ford now!

when i spoke to the machinist he said to take a 3/8" drill bit and angle it to illongate the holes just enough to get the bolts to fit and then put flat washers under the heads.

My goodness!
That sounds a bit hokey, no?
I was envisioning all kinds of mods, but not the washer under the bolt trick!
