Fellow Kids,
For those of us on a "weight diet"as well as a budget, I think I've found a solution. I've found a manufacturer who has 100 sets of sbc 350 aluminum manifolds and center risers, that are "knock-offs/ copies of the Mercruiser stock product that he has agreed to sell club members for $400 per 4 pc. set. Please e-mail me for details. My claim to him was that we could buy about 12 sets.
Thanks, Burton

Ps. The total weight is 26lbs per side...GREAT HUH???

Gentlemen,

Al ordered his set and is going to be taking photos for me so that i may compare to boat anchor manifolds that came on our motors. I am very interested in a comparison. As soon as we get photos i am sure they'll get posted for all to see...

i am interested in JUST 2 manifolds and no risers... if the price is right wink

Do you know the brand name of the exhaust manifolds and risers. i've been looking into Imco's stock aluminum replacement manifolds (Thumper Category) http://www.imcomarine.com/pages/exhuast.html
but the best price i've seen is $800.00. If these are the ones you are talking about please let us know. Thats a good deal. Rob

The sbc aluminum knockoffs have arrived. Total weight of the set is 50lbs...all 4 pieces.
They are exact duplicates of mercruiser cast iron.
Negotiated Donzi Club Price...$400 plus shipping.

Ask for Peter, the owner of Manifold Warehouse.

Email, and I'll attach pics.

Al sent me the photos and i'll try to get them posted this weekend so everyone can have a look.. they match the stock merc center risers almost exactly.

Okay....so this setup weighs 52# all inclusive..

What does a STOCK 350 Merc 4 piece setup weigh?

Will we have salt corrosion issues, ala uncoated aluminum intake scenario, with these?

trying to find an excuse to pay $400 instead of $1000+++ from SSM for a stock engine..

Hi Buizilla, Let me chime in and say for a fact that a stock Mercruiser manifold weigh's 75 lbs each with out the exh riser! So there is a big weight loss here. Yes to your question =alum won't last as long as the cast iron manifolds will. If you/we want less weight were going to be doing more maintenance. That's one of the trade off's.Sorry. To everyone > "Have A Happy Easter Sunday!! Walt.... :) :)

actually walt, i knwo they are heavy but they are no 75 lbs per side.. i've moved enough of them to have a pretty good feel and i think that 60 / side , manifold and riser together is about right... i am not all that large and i have managed to support a manifold only and put the bolts in by myself.. therefore i feel that a manifold alone goes 35 - 40 lbs... if we want to verify this i just happen to have a set lying around...

where did i put my scale :D

Jamie, No biggy, I was just qoating the weight as was stated from one of the after market performance manufactures. They were comparing there light weight's to our mooring weight manifolds. I to have an old damaged set out in the shop laying on a steel parts wagon that I could also weigh up. No riser's on them and now I hope it doesn't go over 60-lbs, I'm 204 and the bathroom scale tops out at 260 if I remember correctly. But after Easter Sunday's eating frenzy I better wait a few day's before getting on any scale. eek! :D I'll catcha later, Walt. ================================================== ============ Ok It's 12-hour's later! I just got off the scale. and the answer is = 43-45 lbs.each= bare w/o riser's or fittings.Jamie once again your on the money!! :) =So much for believing truth in advertising   I must be getting weaker in my old age, I never question when I read 75lbs.damm!
