Its amasing what you will find driving down the road

Yesterday I saw a Cobalt GT 500
This is a 1971 with a Holman Moody 454
White with a green stripe
Supposedly there were only 10 produced
The dealer told me this was copy of a Donzi
and Donzi actully sued Cobalt
I say its a 7.5 on 10 scsale

Boy what a cool boat !!!!

(let see I could sell my motorcycle, get money out of the secert account my wife dosent know about, dam........)

You know its hot when your brother-in-law
(you know the guy, he rather spend $25,000 on a bass boat)
Tells you to make a deal

I also ran into a 1997 16' Classic
White with a red stripe
This Donzi is 7.5 on 10 scale
It has V6 they were asking $13,500
Sounds like good deal

I would have bought, but I have my heart set on a Classic 18'

I thought you would like to know

Is the Cobalt boat of the early 70's built by the same Cobalt outfit that is building boats today under that name?Their current boats seem to be the local rage with the local Microsoft set-and ownership of one on the West side of Mercer Island is MANDATORY!They are spendy....but their ride quality sucks compared to the Donzis.Tooth chippers.

Len & Blewbyu

The Cobalt was made the same company that wore that name back in the 70's
The guy was asking $16,500 neg.
The Cobalt is located 3 hours from St. Louis
Next time I am in the erea I will shap some pitures

Looking through the "Sales Literature" in this registry's it looks similar to the Donzi Corsican 18

Supposedly only a handful were made

If anybody else has info please responed

Thanks

Mark

Earlier post called Corsicans describes these boats. Holman and Moody did not make any 454's and to my knowlage no engines for that copy. I have a original 1971 Corsican with a 351 Ford Cleveland. Donzi did put in a 427 ford v drive. This Cobalt is a copy of a Donzi, they quit making them during the law suit.

The above pictures, and these, are of a friends 1972 Cobalt 18' here in Michigan. Stored for many years and needing a repower, it is otherwise in very good shape. Solid hull, very well built, not a cheap or hurried knock-off. Currently not for sale, but who knows what the future will bring?
