Redline Heavy Shockproof synthetic, if you have a 36 year old Volvo 200!

I liked the Volvo synthetic in the OMC King Cobra.

In Merc drive, most say use the Merc Hi-Po - I've yet to try anything in a Merc

Should have indicated the type of drives, they are Bravo 1.

Also, is there any other reason than security to rmove the props during winter storage. Boat is outside but secure - wondering if I should pull the props?

You should at least pull the prop and lube the shaft. You don't want it to corrode / seize. I would think you could put it back on while stored.

Thanks for the input - yes I lube the shaft when I change the gear lube oil, I then put the props back on - felt they were safer on the lower unti then in the basement with the kids.

Most of the time I use the Penzoil from Walmart. 195 trouble free hours of hard running 540 ftlbs TQ!!

Merc Hi-po is a very good choice.

If $$$ is no concern the Redline syn is your best bet!

I started using the Amzoil synthetic Marine Gear Lube in my Alpha SS this summer. I always ran Merc in the past. With the merc and drive shower, the drive was warm to the touch after a long run. About like putting your hand around a cup full of coffee you just poured. With the synthetic and drive shower, it's more like that same cup of coffee after sitting on the table for 20-30 minutes... luke warm, almost cool.
