Well, I finished her up Friday night, but with a burnt out spotlight and no moon, I decided to wait till Saturday morning for the maiden voyage. Saturday I put about two to three solid hours of various RPM cruising on her, with only a couple one or two second blasts past 4k RPM. It was hard to refrain!! I'm very happy with everything so far. She starts good, runs great, and is the most power I've had yet. The only bad thing was a small oil drip around the timing cover and oil pan gasket. I'll clean her up with some Break Clean, and gob some gasket sealer on there in hopes of stopping that potential mess. The new prop also required a considerable amount of strength on the steering wheel when above 3K rpm. I compensated with adjustmens to the torque steer fin on the drive, but it only made it worse. Then I realized, I was turning the fin the wrong way.....duh!! I'll move the fin the other direction and give her another shot this weekend. Should cure everything. I was very happy to find that the new 388 stroker had NO problem spinning the 15 X 24 nibral bronz prop. It planed nicely and cruised faster than the old cupped 14.5 X 21. I brought her up to 4K rpm slowly (after an hour of break in) then hammered down for a second only to watch the tach climb instantly to 5Krpm. Before the boat could catch up, I pulled back. I'm thinking that if she'll turn 5k no problem, I may add an inch or two of pitch to this prop, or look for a left hand 15 X 25 or X 26. (since that was the original rotation direction) This was achieved with 3 beer drinking, good time a having 175 pounders aboard, and 50 gallons of gas. (....yes, I waited till I was home to drink my beers)

This was at home just after bringing her around from the boat ramp. Performed the pre-flight check, and we were off to Shell Island for the maiden voyage . She's got some girth in this one!! As you can see, I still have to re-fasten the old glove box door. That'll be in the next couple weeks when I add the stereo, amp, sub woofer, and 4 speakers.

Our pit stop at Shell Island. At this point I've put about 1 hour of in the water break in time on the engine, also time for a cold one.

Here's the rt. hand 15 X 24. And no, she didnt tilt to the left side when underway, but I'd still like to find a left hand 15 X 24 or 15 X 25 since she's a left hand helm.
