I received this from an secret source...

These are the top ten reasons Lenny can't buy your Donzi boat this year as per the David Lettermen home office in Lawrence,Kansas.

10. Canadians can not convert miles per hour into Kilometers.
9. Lenny says you live too far away for him to get there from his home.
8. Lenny can not find your 1968 Donzi Classic in his recent NADA value book.
7. Lenny thinks "Holman and Moody" is a law firm.
6. Lenny's been told to deal directly with Don Aronow himself and no one else.
5. Lenny has so many print outs of boats he's interested in, he can't return your phone call until next year.
4. Lenny is now scared to buy a Donzi since he heard the story of the Russian sub.
3. Lenny told me he won't buy now and tow it all the way home to Canada and then have the Miller brothers ask him to report to Orlando with his boat immediately.
2. Lenny is holding off from buying now because he's not sure if that barrelback
Volvo 302 is a 1967 or a 2000 in disguise.

And the number one reason that Lenny will not buy a Donzi this year is

1. Lenny heard that Donzi is recalling all classics with a 24 degree hull and converting them to catamarans at no charge.

Scot, one of the other ones.(harbourmaster) Very funny... http://www.donzi.net/ubb/rolleyes.gif
I'm think I'm gunna sit back for a while, continue reading posts, shop the I-net world, gain as much DONZI knowledge as possible, but withdraw from "Posting Madness". It seems apparent that some of you are tired of my quest and location from which I am pursuing this endeavour. I'll talk to y'all soon when I can include a boat and pictures to place in the Registry beside my name. It will be a classic 18' with a windshield, original right hand steering, drive/engine make unimportant. Then maybe I will post again and ask questions with regards to MY boat.
I can't afford to jump on every Donzi that comes along, (and it's amazing how many there are, if you live in the right places.) spend $2000 just to go look at it, no trailer or delivery vehicle on hand, and then decide to wait for a "better one to come along". The right one that comes along WILL be the one that I travel to BUY. Woodsy's was right but the timing was off. I don't have 9 days Vacation to take between now and Christmas to go get one of these things. I get my "new" 8 weeks vacation on Jan01/2001...Talk to ya soon http://www.donzi.net/ubb/smile.gif

Len, most of like you doing this -keeps us on our toes looking for great boats for one of us. You help us with our history. Besides next week we pick on Chris. his 18 is going to be powered by a 454 with paul's old 350 as a bow thruster.

If Lenny wants original steering...shouldn't it be port side?

Len
10-29-2000, 08:21 PM
Meaning that it is not on the port, was not converted to starboard from port...A newer rig that came with starboard steering.

Havent posted in awhile but this is too much to resist. Lenny needs to lighten up. I have also been looking for a boat but a Kubota for the farm took lead in necessity this year. From what I have read the folks that write here are the most helpful of any of the forums I partake in (I am the Arkansas Rep for Vintage VW of America). You wont find this cooperation Lenny in the VW hobby. Harbormasters post was in the spirit of jest not meaness. In any case, you will recover.
Does a 1989 have triple hatches/ (JUST KIDDING).

Lenny, I feel your pain, and so should Scot V, if you want to see something really funny, check out Harbourmasters pics in the registry. http://www.donzi.net/ubb/wink.gif I'm in the same boat (actually I'm not in a boat, but that's another problem) hang tough, something will show up sooner or later.

Please note in pic #16 of Scot VanA's boat(unrestored concours winner)how the particularily fetching photo enhances the lovely lines of the boat-and note too,the radical "steps", of which there are TWO very close together. The refined exhaust plumbing(literally)appears hand built-very rare.Surely, color sanding will bring that gelcoat right up....
Seating seems adequate-Bilt Rite would be proud. Also very rare-the triple trumpet horns hat seem 1/3 length of the boat, that will consume first third of the horsepower of whatever engine goes in just to blow them once.
Boat should be done next week-pics of finished Classic will follow soon(about August). If it goes up "For Sale"-dont bother to ask if there any pics......others have to no avail.

I think I have the answer for Len and all other Canadians

The Donzi Registry could have a retal fleet

Just think of the possibilities

If they spend $20 on a six pack of Molsons

A $200 per hour fee wouldnt be out of line

Throttle up and hang on

Mark

And of coarse, in the Scot V. Donzi, the rarest of all optional equipment - Forced Air Central Heating!

I've got to say something here.
Lenny...I considered the above Top Ten List to be extrememly funny. In fact, I encouraged the posting of it.
It's all in Donzi fun big man, and I think you know it. We're all buds, right? It would have been extremely fun if said at say, one of our meets! You gotta laugh!
Look, we all feel your pain. I couldn't imagine being in a place where I couldn't find a quality boat for a reasonable price. And as far as info goes, you should check out some of my posts from years ago when I was looking at a 16 prior to me buying the 18-2+3! I get really embarrassed when I think of all the stupid questions I was asking! But everyone was very polite and answered my questions with authority.
I remember my one question about the Volvo drive. I had never seen one before (knowingly, remember, I was a 'yachtsman' prior to this - and still am in some respects) and was baffled at the propeller nut cone.
I'm certain that you'll find a very nice boat, as soon as the Miller brothers ask you to report to Orlando with it immediately!

Found an SRX 18' 1969 SEARAY "Pachanga" under a tarp for the last 7 years, lake use, 30 miles from here, comes with rare windshield, haven't seen it yet, don't want to...(NOT A DONZI http://www.donzi.net/ubb/frown.gif ) and an 1986 20' MINX 350, alpha, original gel coat, $12,000.00 US still for sale in Lake Tahoe, yellow, original gelcoat, through hull exhaust, tandem trailer, it was on EBAY for a while a few months back. 900 miles due south from here, $300 in round trip fuel costs and ferrys. Still not a CLASSIC 18...things are looking up tho. http://www.donzi.net/ubb/biggrin.gif

Hey Lenny,
The "Changa" is not a Donzi, sure, but it is a great little boat man! My bud has one and it is the fastest thing around since I blew up my motor!
I would consider it.
No bashing from the Donzi crowd now!
And what's the matter with a Minx? I love those things. A bit heavy, and most are under powered, but still, a very cool boat.

RickR, that's a mighty generous offer.

2821 miles, 51 hours, 46 minutes, one way.

All right I can't get the hyper link to work, go to www.mapquest.com (http://www.mapquest.com) , and punch in Sevierville TN, and Victoria BC. It's one hell of a trip.

Boxy, I got my copy of Streets and Trips 2001 (Microsoft) and it is pretty cool as well. Tells me when to sleep, get gas, and what pubs/restuarants/services are in each town. Places to stay, telephone numbers etc. GPS locator and direction headings. Gas mileage. Finds things based on ANY info. 800 meg.

Is that really ScotV's boat?
Really now...is it?
As for that vent, I've seen those before on at least two other 16's. Obviously some type of engine compartment venting thingy.
I couldn't imagine the noise coming out of there at speed. Must be horrible.

Let see we are talking Canadian dollas

You could get a 40 Cuban seeded cigars from the Dominican Republic

or 4 cags of Old Milwaukee

or better yet 2 private dances at the Doll House

Remember that movie "Quest for Fire" ???

There are many similaritys here

As Always Throttle UP and Hang On

That vent is on my sisters 16 and we got it new in 1966. The battery was backthere and had to access it from the engine hatch, no nhatch under the seat.

Mark , you'd better be careful that your city fathers aren't reading this thread. Calling Old Milwaukee real beer is probably grounds for banishment from St. Louis.
Actually in my cigar and beer offer, I was thinking more along the lines of real Canadian beer and cuban grown cubans, and I've spent time in the Doll House, and it's got nothing on the Chez Paris in Montreal.

I know Old Milwaukee ia a dirty word & product (thats the point)

I apologize for the confusion
A lot of our miscommunication is do to translation problems between our two countries

As far as cigars
I prefer the ones from Jamaica

When it comes to gentleman's clubs
The Diamond Cabaret in Sauget IL is one of the best
Its like a 18' Donzi with leather seats and Hemi Cuda motor
(full contact and a private dance $25 US dollars)
