I was visiting a guy with nice toys...27 foot Mirage with twin 502s, '80 vette with L-82 and a trick supercharger, and something I'd never heard of. It is a 454 Chev pickup with what he swears is a hi pro marine engine in it. The story goes that during a strike, in order to fill some special orders, a marine engine was installed into about 11 or so trucks at the factory. He claims there is marine/mercruiser electronics governing it, and (after he modified it) the power is to die for. Of course, he claims his boat does 90... maybe he's right on all counts. Anyone ever heard of this marine 454 in a newer Chev pickup?

No...But I have a Merc 420hp 454 in my 1965 Pontiac GTO. Do you think GM made this kind of thing back then?

This guys sounds full of it. Any hooo...I have had this car since 1983. I put a BB Merc in this thing in 1989. Its now a 468 and dyno'd 539 HP. Took it to the track once back in 92' and it went 12.37 110 mph. Thats through exhaust, 9" slicks, NO ladder bars, Granny Shifting it and the car weights 3,700lbs on the track scale. This thing only has 52,000 orig miles and has been a BB chevy most of its life (had a 427 Tri-Power in it from 1969-1982.Ahhh chevy power...thats the only way to make a PONTIAC run!!!! I had a Spare Merc motor laying around for my 1980 Donzi Criterion II and the old GTO needed a motor.

This car is for sale...havent driven it in 6-7 years. Dont know if it will even start. Covered with Donzi parts.

I agree with Scott electronics -if it is injected it won't work well with hop up stuff. If it is carbureted than he wasted his money
