I thought I'd continue this topic with a new post as the picture downloads make the threads a little slow on the download. These pictures are of the Texas 18 with a few changes made to make the writting a little more contrasting and are mirrowed and rotated so as to be readable. http://www.donzi.net/photos/whyde20.jpg http://www.donzi.net/photos/whyde21.jpg http://www.donzi.net/photos/whyde22.jpg http://www.donzi.net/photos/whyde17.jpg http://www.donzi.net/photos/whyde18.jpg http://www.donzi.net/photos/whyde19.jpg
The last two photos of the deck are the most revealing and I think say "18" then "Front 18" on the underside of the first piece of cloth and then more ledigibly "Front 18" on the underside of the top piece of cloth.
I'm sure Clayman could do a better job of enhancement, but here is my shot for what its worth.

C'mon Guys and Gals! At the risk of being a killjoy, We have a serious, interesting topic that is getting buried under worthless chatter, and joking around(though funny). Show some consideration for Gritz who took the time to post this and the different views of the writing. :D

I know that on the wood for the interior of my 81 Formula, the model is written on each piece. I think they cut a bunch, then stock them till they build that model.

I think Cuda is right. They look like piece and orientation instructions. The first one, I can't make heads or tails of - the letters look like "Rojy." Might be a last name. The second looks like "Side 18" and the "front 18" is very clear.

Jr,
Stayed up all night trying to figure this out   :D , but I think I got the first one too. The shot was the other side of the deck and I think it's just two "Front 18"s laid on top of each other.
Actually it just kinda popped out at me this morning after a good nights sleep.
PS: I may not have a clue. After all I am the guy who misspelled "writing" on the topic of the post. LOL

I stared at it all night too and I think you are right. Its not a Y as the last character. Its a combo of T and the eight. And what I thought was a J is the one and the N. "Front" written right over "18" looks to be right. Very cool! :D
