I bought the McGuires wheel cleaner, absolutely great stuff yellow disapears. It does not blacken chrome, does not eat your trailer, does not melt sponges and no need for chemical gloves. I shot the side and low and behold after I hosed it I noticed it whitened upper hull sides, which I dowsed being sloppy. I'm going to shoot the whole boat and rewax it. Finaly something easy!

Just a thought, and I apologize if this has been thought of before, but a topic on Donzi Detailing would be a great addition to the "how to" articles. I know that everyone of us who owns a boat has some tricks up their sleeves for detailing and the like.

Phil,
Thanks for letting me know it worked for you.

I was truly blown away when I stumbled onto this.
I am glad there was someone else out there that could use this timesaver.

RH.
Good idea. I will make that section.

I am so glad to get away from the acid, it was amazing to see it brighten the rest of the hull. I am sure that most of the membership will be thanking you for you truly great find.

Do you think it would harm anti-fouling paint? My Dad's boat sits in the water all season and it is a royal pain to clean up. He has vc-17 paint on the bottom, and I would love to not have to use acid on the sides to get them white.

Darn, I would not have the foggiest idea. You could always mask it off

Was it the Hot Rims / Cool care stuff, or the Gold class instant wheel cleaner?

It was Hot Rims /Cool Care All Wheel Cleaner
Product #G-9524
(I did not try the Gold class instant wheel cleaner, Though this is stronger according to Mequiars.)

Just got done doing the whole boat, thank goodness its a 16. I am even more impressed then before, I sprayed it on and wiped it around with a rag then hosed of while wiping. Looks brand new, anyone want two new bottles of ON-OFF!

Did anyone think of calling Mr. Barry Meguiar himself?

You know he is always doing those "CAR CRAZY" episodes, why not do an episode with our DONZIs?

Could be interesting...anyone gonna call or e-mail them?

If not, I would be happy to, but since I have not used the product yet, and Harbormaster has, he should be the one to "rate" it for marine use.

Cheers,
George

Sagbay, I doubt it would hurt the bottom paint, if it did, that's still a good point if someone wants to remove the bp.

It wot hurt bttom paint just make it ineffective in antifouling for a couple of hours.

Thank you for the bottom paint replies. We will test out the Wheel cleaner in a month or so when we pull her.

Thanks again

HarborMaster...did you get a response yet from the Meguiar people?

Probably won't until Monday, but I can't wait THAT LONG!

Keep us posted.

As previously posted, the Hot Cool Rims stuff works great. I also used it on my aluminum trailer with great results.

Thanks for the tip

Does it strip the wax off ?

As far as I can see it does not bother the wax, it sure made my life easier. I found another thing that helps, I spray the transom and aft sections that get wet when launching with Windex. That way any Gook I get while launching washes right off while leaving the canal. My problem is I love to Gunk Hole, all those back creeks stain the heck out of the hull, the Mcguires gets it spotless while I am flushing. Then I wash the whole boat, my neihbors think I'm nuts washing every time I use the little bugger!
