Has anyone tried one of the non-power assist hydraulic steering systems on a 16 (or 18 for that matter) with a Volvo 270?? Have to upgrade and will probably just stick with dual cable rotary system, but was curious if a hydraulic systems had any good reports, advantages/disadvantages, etc. with these boat/drive combinations.

I installed a Hynaulic [spelling for sure] system on a 18. It had a single ram, internal. I mounted it on a brkt. and attached it to the tiller arm. Ran copper lines up along the right side and over to the left side steering helm pump. The resivor was mounted on the transom to the right of the engine.

It worked great took about a weekend to install and took care of any torque steer.

I also had a single ram, internally mounted Hynautic system on my old 1965 16 ski sport. It worked really well with NO tourque steer.
