Here are some links to the "summer fun run" Sean O set up. It really was great. I didn't bring my boat to Claudio's later but I made seperate links to a couple of the only classic donzi represenative around. My little yellow guy held his own pretty well. I belive we were the shortest boat by 7 feet and we basically kept up for most of the run. Did have to cruise at 4 grand though.

For those of you that have followed my boat I replaced my blown alpha with a rebuilt unit from Moss Marine in Amityville. The bad news is that it only took 2 days to blow that one. Luckily I made it through the run. I brought it back to them and they took it back no questions asked. A new one should be all ready for me on Friday. They really seem to be standing behind their product so I guess that is a positive thing. I really am pretty dejected but what can you do. Was it still worth it??? I think so. There is no way I could have kept up with those guys with the volvo. There just wasn't the high speed control that was needed. The first drive that went the guys at Moss marine later told me had been rebuilt once before using aftermarket parts and poorly shimmed. The second one ( their rebuilt unit) they just said most likely it was just a fluke. A crack in a gear that went unnoticed or something. I went in this morning and was considering buying a bravo but they talked me out of it. The guys there really seem knowledgeable and said the alpha should be fine with what I am asking it to do. So the alpha gets one more shot then it is off to Bravo...or maybe my parents won't notice if I bolt on that ASD-6 in my basement.....

I am not sure who took that one I think maybe Sean O but I like it. One thing which I have had some time to live with is the RH prop Lh steering thing. I have to say the results are mixed. There is no question that the boat does lean more with just a driver but it isn't too bad. With two people it only is really noticeable if you get airborne big time. All in all it works just fine. If I was building the boat from scratch and had not just painted it I might have switched the steering but with me the alpha is lucky to be on there for a few years before I go Bravo so till then it works just fine.

Madpoddle,
PVC piping as a launching tube sealed at the bottom & strapped on the tower. It works great!
