I PURCHASED WHAT I THOUGHT WAS A 1972 18 2+3 AT TIME OF PURCHASE. HOWEVER I THINK IT MAY BE OLDER.
THE DECK DOES NOT DROP DOWN TO MEET THE TRANSOM IT STAYS THE SAME HEIGHT ALL THE WAY BACK. I HAVE SEEN THIS STYLE ONLY ON BOATS PRIOR TO 1970.

THE HULL NUMBER ALSO LEADS ME TO BELIEVE ITS OLDER. HULL#C18209 LOOKING AT OTHER BOATS REGISTERD ON THIS SITE IT FITS INTO 1969-70. ITS REGISTERD WITH DMV AS A 1972. I LOVE THE BOAT WHATEVER YEAR IT IS I JUST WANT TO KNOW WHAT I HAVE.

ANY FEEDBACK WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

Before ANYONE can positively answer your question, you need to post some photos.

Dan, I may not be correct, but did Donzi number all of their hulls sequentially? Meaning that your hull would have been the 209th produced of all of the C18 hulls? Anyone out there that could shed some knowledge on how Donzi did this?
Show some pictures of your new toy!

I agree. I have c18-226 which is a barrelback and is a 1968. As far as I can tell mine is one of the later barrelbacks. If your hull number is 209 I would say you do have a barrelback but pics would really help.

My 1970 is hull C18215 and is a barrel-back. I was told by one of the Chisolm Brothers at Portofino that they stopped making the barrel-back in late 1968 or early 1969. The original Holman Moody engine had 1967 casting dates on it. When I inquired about the discrepancy, he told me that my boat was probably used by an executive at Donzi and then titled when he was finished with it and sold as a new boat in 1970.
