The 26ZX runs 65-67mph with the 496H/O or 72-74 with the 525EFI. Iam pumping mine up with a Procharger to 740hp she will run low 80s. The ride on the 26 is awesome! I have owned both boats a 22ZX Procharged that ran 82 and my 26 that runs 65, I miss the speed but the ride is the best. http://www.donzi.net/photos/fcivitano206.jpg

I'm then considering the opportunity of spending some more money to buy a 26 instead of 22...

do you think is so better?? I think so for my sea use... :)

Is it 500 EFI higher price justified in very better performance??

Thank you FEDE

If your going for a 500 or a 525 package you are better of buying a 28ZX with twin 350s They are almost the same price and run the same speed. I am supercharging my 26 for about $5000 and I will have 740HP when I am done No 500 or 525 will have that horsepower. I am happy with the boat and the ride, If you are going to step up later do it now and get it over with. I love my 26 GREAT BOAT if you have seas that go over 2ft Don't get a 22 go for bigger, My 26 is good in 5ft waves

I live in Genoa, it's in the north West of Italy, on the sea, 10 minutes ride from Portofino, I think you should know! :)

Would you tell me if these 2 options are useful or not for the 26 ZX??

Control w/ Trim $279

Mechanical Trim/Drive Indicators $1,314

I cannot understand what they mean precisely...

Thanx FEDE! wink

I'm going to make my order!!! happy_bi biggrin.

Yes and Yes. trim on the control is a must, and the mechanical indicators would be nice (My boat didn't have that option, but it is on my wish list). The mechanical indicators will show you the position of your trim tabs and your drive, however without them you will only have guage for your drive.

Good luck and enjoy your Donzi.

I liked having the mechanical trim/drive indicators. It lets you know exactly where the drive is positioned at all times, along with the trim tabs so you don't have to guess. There is a panel on the helm with little red lights that show you if the drive is in or out, or somewhere in between. And another 2 red lights that show where each trim tab is (down, up or in between somewhere). It is a mechanical linkage with wires that attach to the drive and tabs and then run through the transom and up to the helm. Pretty cool, except I did have to keep adjusting the linkage on the outdrive after a few years of use.

Didn't have the zero-effort control w/ trim so I can't help you out there.

That is Zero effort controls and I have both and will not do without either, A must if you are getting into a Performance boat.
