I am looking at a 2004 Classic 18 with a windshield. If I want to attach fenders to protect it, am I able to install either pop-up, or pull-up cleats? Am I going to be able to reach up to install a backing plate. (Sounds stupid, but I want to keep her looking mint.)
Thanks for the help and advice.

Greg,

I installed two slim line pop ups just forward of the windshield on my 22 and it was no sweat. Also replaced the two in the back for that smooth, aerodynamic look. Probably gave me .0002 mph, but everything counts!

Road trip, when I first read that I read it "Ted" and figured, Hmm...600SC wasnt fast enough, he had to get the other .0002mph wink

Gregg, you should be able to "squeeze" in there, forward engine hatch area, port and starboard and just ahead of windshield, same. Accon pop ups are wonderfull things. Buy the Accons that measure about 5 1/4" long overall. #202-4. I have the pop-ups, (pushbutton) not the pull ups. Also, buy the aluminum backing plate, (gives you a great template)provides a lot of even strength and I also bought the plastic cup. The theory being, it doesn't allow water into the hull through these openings other than where you direct it to by a little hose.

Be SURE to seal up any perimeter areas with some resin if you are going through any cored areas.

Personally I like these for fenders. No drain to worry about either. $20 each. I need to order them so let me know if interested. Buy four at one time and I will pay shipping. http://www.donzi.net/photos/popcleats.jpg
