Ok...here are some pictures...I should have bought this boat!!!! This is one of the coolist 16 I have ever seen. Its hull #423.

Still trying to locate the raw water pickup...its no where to be found. I think they had it plumbed throught the drain plug!

Is that the boat that was on RT 149 and Bay Road?

If so I drove by that boat about 40 times this summer.

Neat boat but the fact that the V-Drive shaft was balancing on the trailer roller made me a litte skidish.

In any case someone is going to have one cool little boat. I think that I know who the original owners were.

the water pick up is not in the bottom of the hull?? under the engine starboard side??

should have bought it then Cathy and Di could have matching baby blue 16s,

that hull is 3 after Tony Sporer's and 13 after mine

The instrument panel, light/blower switches, and cockpit cover "stay" hardware piece are exactly like mine. Upgraded wheel, throttle, and captain's chair. Cool boat!

Very cool!! The fresh water intake should be at the top, forward portion of the prop strut. It is about a 3/4 inch hole in the casting. On some of the V-drives, (including my Hornet)this was augmented or replaced by a black (aluminum?) intake that was hung off the back of the transom with the intake screen just below the bottom of the hull. The reason being that the intake was larger and stayed in the water longer.
Is your drive shaft going from the velvet drive to the V-drive have an encapsulating ring? Another 67' 18 classic I looked at did not
but my 71' does.

Nope...looked at the strut area. No intake. My 1967 bench seat Hornet has it there...but not this thing. I'm sure it will turn up..... :confused:

Found it....it is in the strut housing! I guess my big belly was in the way. I couldnt bend over far enuff eek! eek! .

it is possible my water pick up is between the inner and outer strake it could be resting on the bunk
