Hello everybody. How much faster WOT is a Blackhawk versus a standard 22 Classic with similar power? What is it about the Blackhawk drive that makes it faster than a Bravo 1 drive? What are the difficulties inherent in owning a Blackhawk? Thank you for answering these questions.

Blackhawk,
Surface props, not much in the water when you are flying other than half the prop. Little hard to drive as the bow heads for the sky when the water conditions change. Not a set it and forget proposition in regards to throttle and trim tab position. Got to read the water and pay attention all the time. Lots of fun once you get the hang of it.

There are many on this board more informed then Ie to answer this from a technical perspective but let me say this.
I have been in several standard 22's. They are great but the 502 blackhawk pushes it over the edge. What a wild ride ! It takes a while to figure them out. Iin fact, Ii'm not sure that I have it yet.But I'm having a lot of fun learning.
Look out for hard to find parts with the BH.
These guy's will give you the big picture.

To the best of my knowledge...

22 Bravo 502 MPI 415 hp max 72-73mph
22 Blackhawk 502 MPI 415 hp max 79-81mph

Blackhawk hull has rocker built in. The last ? 6 feet of the bottom curves up ? 3/4"-1". Gas tank moved back a little? 6"-12"

Re the gas tank being farther back? I was told that it is not positioned farther back but that it is a bigger tank (55 vs 65 gal) and there for extends farther back.

Red dog is correct the tAnk is bigger. Now let me throw this into the works a std 22 with the same engine as the blackhawk with a Imco shortie is at least as fast as the Blackhawk. I actually know some one who has matched them up. Look at RoadTrip SE and ted befor the SC600. Gary Vaughn has done this with the same engine in a black hawk in a 1985 22 Classic. You also don't worry about the nose kissing the sky and your but good by. The two props actually take more HP than the single.
