In all the years i've been checking the board (yeah, mostly lurking) i've learned a bunch about hull design, but never have seen a bunch of terms in one place. By now, i have a pretty good handle on most of these terms, but i think it would be a great idea to: A: define these terms... and B: explain how they affect hull performance. I could probably give a decent definition of these words, but ill leave it to the more experienced people on the board to give better ones.

Let's hear the definitions and thoughts about:

chine
deadrise
pad
transom
hook
rocker
strake
step

and anything else i cant remember right now.

Ok...here are the Definitions for the following:

chine: The thing your door bell does when the button is pushed.

deadrise: See the movie Zombie's or Night of the living dead?...When they burn that stuff in the creamatory and it rains on the graves. Well, thats when the"Deadrise"

pad: Alot of women use them once a month.

transom: Isnt that someone from a strange town...or is that transvestite?

hook: What a Hooker does.

rocker: Something old people sit on and sew.

strake: Something you do when you get pissed at your boss.

step: what you fall down from when your drunk.

Chines are the flat parts on the bottom sides of the hull. Below the waterline on the outside. runs the length of the hull.

Deadrise- The angle that the V of the hull is at. Normally under 30degrees if I can remember right.

Transom-The back of the hull. The "board" that the drive comes out of. Strongest part of the hull (again, Im trying to think back!) Strongest because of all the torque passed through it.

Strakes-They are those little glass "fins" that run down the bottom of the hull to make it more stable. I think they stick out an inch or less.

Steps-Like a small step under the hull, creates air bubbles letting the hull ride on more air equaling less resistance which means faster.

Gunnel:Its the same as Gulable but the person is even more dumb.

Tumble home: Its what you do when you leave the bar at 3:00 and cant find the door till 4.

Shear: "Legs" Make these...There Shear Natural!

Tunnel: This is what I usually walk around in...That and a Fog.

Bow: Something that has a movement....ohhh...wait, Thats Bawl

Displacement: What happend to the water in a pool when Cliff jumps in....Now thats "Displacement"!

Beam: Jims last name.

Bilge:What you do over the toilet after eating White Castle.

Draft: What you feel when your fly is down.

Freeboard: A song Lynard Skynard wrote.

LOL...

Yeah, ask a stupid question, get a stupid answer(s). Except with this board you seem to get about 7,000 stupid answers. :D Pearson's from Jersey, trust me, it's something in the water here. This is more fun than real answers anyway.

Pad - Place where rubrail might occur.

Tumble home - When a twister hits a trailer park.

Gunnel - The business end of a musket.

Transom - Word used to compliment a 'vestite.

Draft- Beer from a tap.

Bulkhead- volume discount from women who hook.

Rocker- Hated Atlanta brave relief pitcher.

Damn, I should really get back to work now...

Plenty of time for serious talk this winter when everyone is bored to death...
