GEOO, 1. The Mean Green Hornet is getting there. The fiberglass is all redone and the engine and sterndrive are back in. I have the new cushions, captains chair and upholstery from Bilt Rite and am awaiting my hardware back from Frankford Plating in Phil., PA. I am trying to get my 1968 original fire extinguisher tested and reloaded to see if it passes inspection so I can still use it. I haven't posted any new pictures because I haven't been able to visit her in awhile. Once I get everything together I will post all the pictures I can get. 2. With guidance, I have taken apart the engine to our 1936 Chris Craft (Am I allowed to mention wooden boats in this BB). One of the valve seats became loose in the cylinder and broke one of the pistons. The adjacent cylinder was bugged up abit since they share exhaust ports. They don't make them anymore so I have to have 6 made to keep everything balanced (so I'm told) and then have the cylinders rebored to match each cylinder. Am I spelling that correctly- yes AOL. I hope that this will go smoothly as Paradox only needs the engine put back in her to get going. Hope all is going well for you. green16 John Teixeira

I pick my Donzi up from the fiberglass shop tomorrow. She will be at AOTH! I want to replace the impeller in the water pump and then start to get her cleaned up and waxed. The impeller job is fairly easy since the water pump is run off a pulley on the engine rather than being down somewhere in the outdrive. I'll pull the plugs to make sure the Split Fires are still in good shape. Should have her ready to water test in the next 2 or 3 weeks. http://www.donzi.net/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.donzi.net/ubb/biggrin.gif

Does Spring smell like the exhaust of two HP500's? If so then I can smell it. My dad just bought a new 33ZX with twin 500's, just in time for Spring.

The 383s for the Magnum are almost done. Dart Iron Eagle heads, Crane H272-2 cam, complete Crane valve-train including the roller rockers, Manley race-flow valves, KB-135 pistons, etc . . . and all built while not drinking! Anyway, next I need to get the Magnum back to the house, pull the old engines, clean up and maybe repaint the engine compartment, install the set of K-planes that I have had sitting in my dining room for past eight months, install the 383s and maybe, just maybe, go for a ride before May.

Geo. The cover is off as soon as it gets a little warmer. I will take her out and test her. I may have to add more boost to compensate for the exhaust and heads.

Lookin Good!
Are you going to use splatter?
I don't think I'll ever get the sanded gelcoat residue out of my engine compartment or my hair.

89 degrees on Monday, supposed to be 82 rest of the week. Had company over the weekend, we ran over 300 miles in the 22. Yee Ha!

Guys
Better get on the ball!! Spring is almost here and you all know it will take twice as long for your projects as you expect.

Good Luck!

Well she's not ready to run. Need to add a taller water neck on the intake, with a vent to get all the air out of the cooling system. Hopefully she be ready for next weekend? GEOO http://www.donzi.net/ubb/frown.gif

Geoo,
Question? You are running a closed system for your cooling needs right? Why doesn't the air that is trapped in the system not vent to the cooling water tank? Is it not a pressurized system like what you find on a automobile? What does the longer neck on the intake do for the problem? Sorry to be so inquisitive, but I like to learn all I can about performance items and what makes them tick.

Boldts,

NICE!!!!

One of my hoses goes higher then the heat exchangers radiator cap. Air gets trapped in this hose and needs to be vented out.

OK, MY TURN, weather is calling for 70 Saturday, time to turn the key for the first time this year! Plus we have a new home to take the boat home to, no more towing great distances to be in civilization!
I am so excited, I don't think I can fall asleep tonight, so here I am, cold vodka, and the keyboard, tunes a ROCK'n....

GEOO, saw the pic off the "your hardware" on the off shore link, she is looking AWESOME!

Hey everybody,
Going to rain here all weekend, so we played a bit of hooky this afternoon. Beautiful, in the 70's. Cooking down the lake when here comes a pair of rooster tails
at 70+. Chris Cat running surface drives. Hello David and Goliath. Turn it around and run with him for a mile or so, then bye, bye. Felt really, really good. Need more power Scotty. Maybe next year, todd

Thanks for the support on the factory note. I look forward to the delivery. All of the details have been worked out with them. Just waiting on the delivery. It should look pretty nice. Bryan has been giving my old 22ZX a lot of love. I don't think it looked that good when it was new. Talk to you soon. See you at KY. Hopefully with my boat.

I can feel the air getting warmer, all I gotta do now is:
Replace the interior,
Rechrome the hardware,
Dremel and fill the stress cracks,
Remake the hatch covers,
Rebuild the carb,
Find a rub rail insert for the stern,
Replace the pilot seat,
Regrease the steering cable,
Find a steering link bushing that will fit,
Sand the marine-tex patches I just put on,
Fair the repair to the port bow area,
Figure out the gas tank venting problem,
Replace the carpet,
Replace the threshold,
Glass in the holes cut for the rod holders,
Replace the entire stainless rub rail,
Fill the bow deck hole cut for a water filler,
Find out why the tmp gauge doesn't work,
Fill all the old fitting thru holes,
Replace Outdrive,
Replace Engine,
Fair and paint entire boat,
and not necessarily in any order,
Replace stringers and soles,
recast eight more badges and have chromed.
............I guess it never ends. http://www.donzi.net/ubb/smile.gif

Well, Zing isn't giving me any references to the albums but in here lay some pics
of my list check offs.

Got the hatches done. Real nice door skin over 3/4 ply encapsulated.
Got the thottle cable holder done. Made out of 1/8" aluminum stock
Got the badges pre-bent before chroming. Way too much time on these.
Got the re-chomed vents/rings back. $100 bucks for all four pieces.
Most of the rest of the list but no Pics.

After paying the King his tax, I'm going to put it all together tomorrow and run the
$%^$# out of it all day.

Owen.

Formula Jr.,
Very nice work! I especially like the Formula Jr badges. You said to much time spent on them, but I think they were well worth it. Keep us updated on your progress and a full picture of the boat?
