Ok...Here's the question. On the stock Mercury Manifold there isn't any water jackets in the rear of the manifold by the Dist.

The new Manifold that I an running has them. What do I do? Can I run them or do I have to block them off?

Also, The old manifold has the tray attached under it. The new one dosn't. Whats the difference?

Need an answer...Im putting this together tommarrow.

THANKS GUYS!!!!!!!

Hmmm, perplexing.
I gather you are talking about the intake.
There are/is a water jacket in the manifold in front, this is where your temp sender is.
The back typically is blocked off in the casting.
As for the "tray", that is a heat shield. If it ain't there, don't worry. Unless there are provisions to mount one there. Normally, Chevy mounts theirs with rivets.

I would call it a water crossover. The intake manufacturer would be able to tell you if it needs to be open.
On BBC you can get a little extra performance by blocking off the EXHAUST crossover under the carb.
