Lasy year I ordered a 2000 28ZX Scorpion edition with the Quick and Quiet exhaust option. When the boat was delivered, it did not have it. My dealer told me it was not available on the Scorpion engines, but could not give me a reason why. I have talked to Donzi customer Service and they told me the same thing, but now I see other brands offering the option on those engines. Even Donzi put it on the 2001 28ZX open bow equipped with the Scorpion option that was tested by Powerboat magazine. Can anyone explain this to me? My dealer is about to reimburse me the difference in price. It seems to me they would just be able to install it now.

I am not famaliar with the Scorpion but Merc may have had a reversion problem that was corrected.
The HP500 had a reversion problem that was rectified with a different riser.

What's reversion?

This is the reverse flow of exhaust cooling water into the combustion chamber . This can happen at idle if the riser is too short for the cam duration. There are several old posts on that subject.

Thanks for the info. I'll see if I can track down the earlier post
