Found this new surface drive. Has anyone tried one on a Donzi? Maybe an idea for those of you who have boats needing complete restores including power train.

Thing is, being an all out racing drive, what the heck would it go for? And what gearbox needs to mate up with it? Maybe the answers are within the zip files but I will take a look-see tomorrow.

Wicked Cool find there Scott! never heard of those. Now, how the heck to get 1200 HP in a domestic donzi? OH Mike! Mike! Pay the freaken royalites and put this on a 22!

If anyone has the knowledge of what a Mercruiser #6 drive goes for, this drive is supposed to be half the cost. Also heard where this drive is illegal in APBA sanctioned races. Anyone know if there is any truth to that? If you are able to run the Arneson drive, I'm not sure why they would ban this new idea of the same principal. It would look pretty sweeeet on a 18' or 22' Donzi with a 350MAG or 502MAG in the 22, ProCharged engine. Sorry, dreamin again....

Scott,
Are you having trouble with the zip files too? What's the deal with the 6 speed tranny that it runs with? Kinda funky?

A few years ago I heard the Merc 6s were going for around $30,000 http://www.donzi.net/ubb/eek.gif of course then you have to buy a transmission, steering and a prop. And an ENGINE http://www.donzi.net/ubb/biggrin.gif

I had the same problem with the zip files also last night. It seems that one can't be found, and the other won't open. Wow, $30,000 divided by 2 is way over us backyard Donzi owners price range. Did you notice that there are 2 versions of the drive also? The full blown race version with a fin, and then another version with-out the skeg fin. I know Geoo's Arneson has a fin on it and I believe he has mentioned that fin is what makes his 18 so controllable. Hmmmm... It looks like this company also makes some pretty exotic transmissions also to place in front of this drive. Any chance the Ragga Muffin team might have some extra parts they would part with? Wonder if I hit the lottery yet? Technology is a wonderful thing. Someone always comes up with a better idea.
