Does anyone have Ford block casting numbers or know were I can find a listing? I will be heaving the old 302?/Penta 250 out, but I would like to know what is in there.

Thanks,
Craig

Looped,

Ford casting numbers start with a letter folowed by a number, "C" is for the sixties, so a casting that began as C6 would be a 1966 casting. D6 a 1976 casting etc. Ford did not make a really worthwhile Hi-Perf 302 with the exception being the Boss 302. I am pretty sure none of those ever made it into production marine use. A Boss 302 is really easy to identify by the cylinder heads.. Pull off your valve covers, and if you have canted valves its a Boss motor. They were extremely rare, so I doubt you would find one in a boat, but you nver know!! I don't think the Hi-Po 289 made into boats either as these engines were extremely rare also. You can look at some older mustang sites, they might help you identify your block a little better.

woodsy32,
I found a Mustang II site that had all the specs. I was pretty sure that it was just your basic Interceptor deal but I wanted to make sure.

Thanks,
Craig

We had the hm 302 figured to be fords J code industial engine, mine still had the j code tag on the coil bracket. It had the big valved 351 w heads cast # DOOE that were popular on local stock cars, they might be worth something. The intake was a cast 4V # C8ZE-9425, 68 or 69 being the only year they made a regular hp 302.
I never checked the rest of the part #s but I think it ran a stock 351w cam.
I have a ford high perf. parts identifier book if you want to check out the crank and rods post the # and I'll see if their listed.

Klink,
I will check the #'s once I get a chance to get outside. This crap just keeps coming down:

GAWD! Although it looks like a Christmas Card, it makes me NOT miss the Colorado mountains (where I lived for 18 years). I swear if I EVER have to scrape ice off another windshield, it'll be too soon!

Here in Austin it's been sunny and and the temperature ideal (high 60s to low 70s).

I washed the 22 this weekend and need to do the spring detail dance next... http://www.donzi.net/ubb/biggrin.gif

I'll probably splash her Sunday. http://www.donzi.net/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.donzi.net/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.donzi.net/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.donzi.net/ubb/biggrin.gif

I know how you feel, spent most of tuesday night under my plow truck, sooo sick of snow.
Hope nobody saw me sitting in the boat making motor noises.
