I've noticed a lot of board members are looking to try different props on their boat, and of course nobody wants to pony up a bunch of cash for a new stainless wheel unless they know how it will work on their particular combination. So why not try swapping props with another board member? Then post what you find with the new prop/engine/drive combination so we can all learn from your experiences.

I'd like to try a 21" Laser on my 18, and I've got a 19" Vengeance, a 23" Vengeance, and a 21" Michigan Wheel Ballistic that are available to any of you guys that might want to try them out. Anybody wanna swap props?

I HAVE 16' 4.3LX GEN+ ALPHA ONE. WOULD THE
21 MWB PROP FIT MY SET UP? I AM NOW RUNNING
A 23 MIRAGE.

Yes, the Ballistic would fit your application. However, this prop has a lot of cup on the trailing edges, as well as the blade tips, and provides A LOT of lift. I think you may run into chine walk, unless you are running trim tabs on your 16.

sounds like an idea there riley... i'd like to try a 21 mirage + or something similar on my 16... i have a not so good a shape 19 vengence on it now and it already chinewalks like a mother if you trim it out at WOT on anything rougher than glass... i'm getting a solid 4600 - 4700 with the drive all teh way in with the vengence... don't know how much the 21 mirage will drop me.. figure 300 rpm maybe... probably not that much with as light a boat at it is... anyoen have any ideas?

Jaroot, I went from a 19 Vengence to a 21 Stiletto. I dropped from 47-4800 rpm to 4400 but gained 3 mph, 54 to 57 mph (gps).

Jaroot,
I run a 19P Vengance and 21P Mirage Plus. With the Vengance I can turn 5000 RPM's, with the Mirage I can turn 4500 RPM's.

Riley, I have a 16, 94 model with a4.3 205 hp turning a mirage plus @ 4600 rpm's, gps on the blink right now but it seems as fast as the laser II 21 pitch whigh I could turn @ 5150-5200 rpm's, apparently the laser prop is one of the best mercury makes but not out of the box, it has to be worked according to john Janaky at pro pellers in michigan, I am although very happy with the 23 mirage plus, I could sell you the laser for $ 200, immaculate condition, and i pay shipping, any one need a revolution 4 21 pitch in same condition let ne know.

Marcdups, has your Laser been re-worked, or is it box stock? I'm interested! Also, I picked up a Mirage 21" and a 22" 4 blade to try out. My garage looks like a prop shop!

Hey Marc, what gear ratio are you running? I think it must be different than my 1.47, or else you have one stout V-6! Also, how would you want to work payment on the Laser?

Riley, I have a 1.65:1 ratio and have not done anything to the engine yet, timing was adjusted by my mechanic by ear, he has 30+ years experience with mercs, hard to see the timing mark on the beast, am very happy with it although it is running quite rich.As for the prop I can ship it to you tomorrow and you can send me a check in the mail. my e-mail address is m.dupavillon@worldnet.att.net, send me your address( shipping ) and it will be on the way if you are interested.
