Hey guys, I just found a basically brand new Mercruiser 4bbl carb on the shelf at my local Marina. The carb was ordered to replace a supposedly faulty carb, but the problems turned out to be elsewhere and this carb was put on the shelf. Does anybody have an idea of the cfm rating of this carb, as used by Mercruiser on the small block engines?

Also, what would be a fair price for this carb? How does it compare to the Edelbrock 600 cfm marine carb? Thanks for any input.

The Edelbrock and Mercruiser carbs are both Weber carbs. As long as they both have the same venturi size, they both will have the same CFM rating.

The Weber for Merc 454 is a 750 CFM. I don't know about the Weber for the 350.

Mine tends to evaporate the fuel if she sits over a few days. Thats no problem I just use little starting fluid (to save wear and tear on the starter) and she fires right off.

On the 454 the Weber is right in between the Holly and QJet as far as power and economy.

Merc has a service bulliten for idle adjustments. Idle screw 1.25 to 1.5 turns.
