What is an acceptable oil temperature for a 350 with oil cooler and hull scoop. Thanks as always

My guess is that with an oil cooler and a 160 deg. thermostat oil temperature would be between 180-200 deg. I wouldn't think it would go above 200 unless you were really running hard. Am I close?

I am running about 195 on oil temp. I do not have a thermostat for water cooling so it runs about 160 or so.

195 deg. sounds ok to me. Do you have a factory or aftermarket setup? I've been considering adding an oil cooler to my motor. I assume it would go inline with the power steering oil cooler.

This is an aftermarket setup on a 65 16'. Kinda hard to get it in there with an 8.5qt oil pan but it seems to work ok.

Oil optimum operating temperature is between 195 and 210 degF. Too cold and sludging increases as well as(beleive it or not) so does engine wear. In 1984 GM releised a sae paper on the subject along with cooler engine temps causing wear problems.
