My 90 16 with that same motor runs at 55.3 GPS one up and full tank. 21P prop with OMC drive. Don't know the ratio.

what rpm's do you turn at WOT, assuming you have a 1.84:1 sterndrive gear ratio? and what kind of prop other than a 23P is it? you should be in the neighborhood of oh 55 - 57 maybe...

I have no idea what the ratio is, I have the Alpha one operation/maintenance as well as the mercruiser iinstallation manual, neither list a ratio. 'm not sure i believe the tach, it reads around 3300, but my ears think its much higher. I ran next to my brother in laws boat, he said I was doing about 55, he said I was BS'n about the RPMs, just another thing to sort out - along with the speedo. I intend to stick a second tach on to verify. The boat originally was in FL - salt water environment, it was stored on davits and had very minimal corrosion, I need to check all of thr gauge connections, Im sure increased resistnace will affect the gauge accuracy.

I had the exact same boat (94-16 w/23p ss Mirage) and with that set up it would do an honest 55mph. I had no trim tabs so it got a little unstable much past that speed due to trim angle. I did end up getting a nice set of k-planes but they came attached to my new 22 Classic. :D A very expensive way to get trim tabs! eek!
